At the police station, Leo sat in the investigation room, seething with anger. His mind was consumed by thoughts of punishing Isabella.
"Mr. Smith, your lawyer is here," the detective announced.
"I don't need a lawyer. I can answer your questions," Leo said, his face expressionless.
The detective hesitated before proceeding. "Okay, Mr. Smith. Your wife accuses you of rape, giving her abortion pills without her knowledge, and physical abuse. How do you respond?"
Leo laughed, and the detectives exchanged nervous glances.
"I am sorry, sir, for arresting you. We had to do it because your brother called us," the detective explained, his voice trembling.
"Don't worry about it," Leo said, his anger still simmering as he left the station.
At home, Grandma Smith fawned over Leo, apologizing for not listening to him and marrying him off to "that stupid girl."
"How are you, my grandson? I should have listened and not gotten you married to that stupid girl," Grandma Smith said, hugging Leo.
"I hope you learned a lesson, Grandma," Cassie said, her mother nodding in agreement.
"Leonard Junior Smith, did you give Isabella those pills?" Mr. Smith asked, his voice firm.
"No, Dad, I just found out today at the hospital that she's pregnant. I didn't know," Leo said, his anger rising.
"You're lying!" Jonathan shouted, punching Leo.
"Jonathan, why did you do that?" Mrs. Smith exclaimed, slapping Jonathan.
"Mother, you're protecting Leo, but you can't see what he did to Isabella! She wouldn't kill her own child. She fought Cassie for wishing her child dead!" Jonathan shouted.
"No, brother, you're brainwashed. Leo doesn't know anything. That girl is lying, trying to tear our family apart," Cassie countered.
"Maggie, please put some sense into your husband. Tell him to stop supporting that girl," Grandma Smith urged.
"Grandma, what's gotten into you?" Maggie asked, shocked.
"Maggie, don't interfere with family business. Everyone, just go to your bedrooms," Grandma Smith ordered everyone.
Isabella spent a week in the hospital before being discharged and sent to a hotel. She was shocked, having expected to return home. However, her aunt Mary and uncle David insisted she was now a married woman and her problems were those of her in-laws.
Isabella entered the hotel room, exhausted, and fell asleep on the bed. She was jolted awake by a bucket of ice falling on her. Her eyes widened in terror as she saw Leo standing over her.
"Bitch, you're not here to sleep. You're here to be fucked," Leo snarled, his voice dripping with malice.
Isabella trembled, her voice shaking. "Why are you here? You're supposed to be in jail."
Leo sneered. "Baby girl, I own the police, just like I own you. When I say jump, they ask how high."
Leo crawled onto the bed, his eyes fixed on Isabella. She tried to move, but her body ached, and she was paralyzed with fear. Tears streamed down her face as Leo pinned her.
Isabella woke up in agony, her body aching from Leo's punishment. Leo lay asleep beside her. She mustered the strength to drag herself to the bathroom, where she collapsed onto the toilet seat, overcome with pain and despair.
"God, why me?" she sobbed, her voice echoing off the bathroom walls. "Take me away, so I can live happily with my parents in heaven. I can't live like this anymore."
Feeling hopeless, Isabella returned to bed and shook Leo awake.
"Bitch, why are you waking me up?" Leo growled, his hand closing around her wrist like a vice.
Isabella's eyes locked onto his, her gaze steady. "Leo, please kill me."
Leo's expression changed from anger to shock. "What did you say?"
Isabella's voice trembled, but her words were resolute. "I beg you, just kill me. I'm tired of living like this. I just want to die. Take out your gun and shoot me, please."
Leo's eyes narrowed, unsure if Isabella was sleep-talking or fully awake. Her eyes, however, were wide open, filled with a desperate longing.
"Isabella, just go to sleep," Leo said, trying to brush her off.
But Isabella persisted, her voice cracking. "Leo, I beg you, I just want to die."
Leo's expression twisted into a cruel smile. "I'll kill you, Isabella, but not yet. First, you need to sign over your father's businesses to me. After that, I'll be glad to kill you."
Isabella's face lit up with a faint, unsettling smile. "You promise?"
Leo's grin faltered, unsure how to respond to Isabella's eerie smile. "I don't promise, but I'm ready to kill. I've been waiting to kill you."
Isabella's smile grew wider, sending a shiver down Leo's spine. He couldn't understand why she seemed happy at the prospect of being killed. Was she planning something? Leo's bravado faltered, replaced by a creeping sense of unease.
For the rest of the night, Leo sat on the couch, watching Isabella sleep with an unblinking gaze, his mind racing with dark possibilities.
