ISABELLA'S POV
I woke up to a wave of nausea, and no matter how hard I tried to swallow, it only got worse. I rushed to the bathroom and knelt down, vomiting uncontrollably.
This had been going on for days, accompanied by a fever and exhaustion. I felt like I was stuck in a never-ending cycle of sickness.
After a refreshing shower, I got dressed and headed downstairs to join the Smith family for breakfast. "Good morning," I said, trying to sound cheerful.
"Morning, my dear. How are you feeling today?" Mr. Smith asked, concern etched on his face.
"I'm good," I lied, not wanting to worry them.
But as I sat down to eat, the nausea hit me again, and I couldn't control myself. I vomited on the floor, and the room fell silent.
Cassie's voice was laced with disgust. "Eww, we're eating here! That's disgusting. Why did she have to sit at the table knowing she's sick?"
I apologized, tears streaming down my face. "I'm sorry..."
But Grandma Smith came to my defense. "Don't worry, my dear. Go to your bedroom. I'll ask someone to clean up."
Cassie's anger boiled over. "Why don't you let her clean up her own mess?"
Grandma's expression turned stern. "Because Leo will be angry if the mother of his baby is treated poorly."
The room fell silent again, and I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. Pregnant? How was that possible?
Mrs. Smith's voice trembled. "Mother, are you sure? Maybe it's just a stomach bug."
But Grandma was adamant. "I know when someone is pregnant. I'll take her to see a doctor."
Cassie's face twisted in disgust. "I hope she's not pregnant. My brother can't have a child with this ugly girl."
Mr. Smith's anger flared, and he slapped Cassie. "Cassandra Smith, I won't allow you to speak ill of Isabella."
Mrs. Smith chimed in, causing more pain in my heart. "But John, you didn't have to slap a child for speaking the truth. This girl is ugly, and she's not supposed to give us a child. How will our grandchild look?"
I couldn't hold back my emotions anymore. I burst into tears, and Grandma hugged me tightly. "Julie, I see where your daughter gets her ill behavior. Why would you say this to another mother's child?"
The argument escalated until Mr. Smith intervened, telling Grandma to take me to the hospital.
As we sat in the hospital waiting area, my anxiety spiraled out of control. My heart racing, I couldn't stop shaking. My mind was a jumble of questions and fears. How would Leo react to the news? Would he welcome our baby, or would his abuse escalate? Was I even pregnant? What if I wasn't? Would Grandma and Mr. Smith be disappointed?
Just as I was getting lost in my thoughts, Jonathan appeared, concern etched on his face. "Hey, Grandma, what are you doing here? Is Isabella okay?" he asked, his eyes scanning me worriedly.
Grandma's announcement shocked Jonathan. "She's fine, she's just pregnant," she said, a smile spreading across her face.
Jonathan's eyes widened in surprise. "What? Does Leo know?" he asked, turning to me.
I shook my head. "No, we're waiting for the doctor to confirm it."
Just then, the nurse called us in to see the doctor. As we entered the examination room, the doctor greeted us warmly. "Grandma Smith, what a pleasant surprise! What brings you here? Are you expecting?"
Grandma chuckled. "No, my daughter-in-law is. I want you to check her."
The doctor's eyes lit up with interest. "Okay, is this Leo's wife?" he asked, turning to me.
I nodded, feeling a mix of nerves and anticipation.
The doctor instructed me to lie down on the examination table, and he began the ultrasound scan. I couldn't help but feel nervous as he searched for the baby's heartbeat.
Finally, he smiled. "I can hear the heartbeat! Congratulations, Mrs. Smith. You're six weeks pregnant."
I beamed with joy, seeing the happiness on Grandma's face. The doctor continued, "You should come back in a week so I can check on you. Your body is weak, so just rest and avoid lifting heavy things."
I asked about medication for my vomiting, but the doctor reassured me that I didn't need any. "Just eat what you can, and you'll be fine."
As we left the hospital, Grandma hugged me tightly. "I'm so happy! My Leo is going to be a father!"
Jonathan grinned, asking, "So, is she pregnant?"
Grandma nodded, and both Jonathan and Grandma hugged me, their faces filled with joy.
As we arrived, I saw Cassie and Maggie outside by the pool, enjoying the warm sun on their skin. Cassie was swimming laps, her strokes strong and confident, while Maggie had her legs dipped in the water, sipping juice and chatting on her phone.
Maggie greeted me warmly, "Hey, Isabella!" But Cassie's expression turned sour as she pulled herself out of the pool, water dripping from her toned body.
"Hey," I replied, my eyes locked on Cassie's. I could feel the tension between us, the air thick with unspoken words.
Maggie asked, "So, what did the doctor say?" Her eyes sparkled with excitement, and I couldn't help but smile.
"I'm six weeks pregnant," I announced, my voice steady. Maggie squealed with delight, but Cassie's face twisted in disgust.
"I hope it dies before it's born," Cassie spat, her words cutting deep. "We can't have ugly babies carrying our family name."
Something snapped inside me. I felt a surge of adrenaline, my wrestling instincts kicking in. I had spent years on the mat, honing my skills, building my strength. I was a three-time national champion, and I wasn't about to let Cassie's cruel words go unchecked.
I strode over to Cassie, my eyes blazing with anger. I could feel my muscles tensing, my fists clenched. Cassie, sensing danger, took a step back, but I was too quick. I grabbed her wrist, twisting it into a submission hold. Cassie yelped in pain as I took her down to the ground, pinning her beneath me.
"You think you can talk about my baby like that?" I hissed, my face inches from Cassie's. "You think you can disrespect me and my child?"
Cassie struggled beneath me, but I held her firm, my wrestling training kicking in. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, my senses heightened. I was in the zone, and nothing could stop me.
It wasn't until Mother and Grandma intervened, pulling me off Cassie, that I snapped back to reality. Mother slapped me, her face red with anger.
"Are you crazy? Do you want to kill my daughter?" she shouted.
I stood up, my chest heaving, my eyes still blazing with anger. "She disrespected me and my baby," I spat. "I won't let anyone speak ill of my child."
Mother's expression softened slightly, but her voice remained firm. "You can't just attack people, Isabella. You need to learn to control your temper."
I glared at Cassie, who was still rubbing her wrist, a mixture of fear and respect in her eyes. "I'm not sorry," I said, my voice steady." And listen here Cassie I will do whatever it takes to protect my baby."
I'm warning you, Cassie," I spat, my voice venomous. "Don't ever speak ill of my child again. I'm Isabella King, a three-time national wrestling champion. I will break your bones if you ever disrespect my baby again, I will kill "
And with that, I stormed out, leaving them all in shock. I was Isabella King, a wrestler, a fighter, and a mother-to-be. I wouldn't let anyone push me around.
