The next morning Isabella woke up early due to pain in her abdomen and her body too since she had bruises. Leo was sleeping on the couch, Isabella tried to stand up but she couldn't, she forced herself but it led to falling on the floor painful causing her to bump on the table causing her to scream in pain waking Leo.
Leo's eyes snapped open, his face twisted in anger. "What's wrong with you? Can't you see I'm sleeping?" He growled, his voice laced with irritation.
Isabella's voice trembled. "I'm sorry, Leo. Go back to sleep." She was in agony, her body screaming in protest.
She tried to stand, but her legs refused to cooperate. They felt like lead, heavy and unresponsive. "Ahh..." she whimpered, tears welling up in her eyes.
Leo's anger didn't dissipate. "What's going on? Stand up and go wash your face, it's bloody." He barked, still irritated.
Isabella's sobs grew louder. "I...I can't stand up. My legs are jammed. I have pain in my back..." Her words trailed off, overcome by her anguish.
Leo's expression faltered, his anger giving way to concern. He sat up, rubbing his eyes, and looked at Isabella with a newfound alarm
Leo carefully lifted Isabella into his arms, her sobs echoing through the room. "Where do you want to go?" he asked, his voice softening.
Isabella pointed weakly towards the bathroom. Leo gently placed her on the toilet and began running a warm bath. He added bath salts, hoping the relaxing scent would ease her pain.
As the bath filled, Leo's annoyance resurfaced. "Stop crying, it's irritating me," he snapped, his patience wearing thin.
But Isabella couldn't silence her tears. The memory of her lost baby tormented her, fueling her anger, sadness, and despair. She felt overwhelmed, trapped in a sea of pain.
Leo's irritation boiled over. "Bitch, I said be quiet! It's 8 am, and you're already irritating me."
But Isabella's tears continued to fall, a heartbreaking reminder of her unbearable grief.
Leo carefully lifted Isabella from the toilet and gently placed her into the warm bathwater. "Is the water okay?" he asked, his tone softening.
Isabella nodded, her green eyes fixed on his.
For a moment, the only sound was the gentle lapping of the water against the tub.
Then, Isabella broke the silence. "When is my dad's business going to be transferred into your name?" she asked, her voice laced with a mix of sadness and desperation.
Leo's gaze locked onto hers. "Very soon," he replied, his voice measured.
Isabella's eyes searched his. "When is very soon?" she pressed, her voice cracking.
Leo's annoyance resurfaced, but he bit back his irritation. "Bitch, I don't know," he snapped, his voice low.
Isabella's gaze dropped, and her voice barely above a whisper. "Leo, don't be angry at me. I just wanted to know because...I don't want to be on this earth anymore. I just want to die. After my dad's business is transferred into your name...you'll kill me, right?"
Leo's eyes widened in shock. He thought she was joking, but the desperation in her eyes told him she was dead serious.
His expression softened, and he carefully bathed her, trying not to cause her more pain. He lifted her out of the tub, carried her back to the room, and gently laid her on the bed.
He helped her apply lotion and slipped a hotel gown over her head. Just then, the room service guy arrived with food and painkillers.
Leo stepped out of the room, leaving Isabella asleep, courtesy of the sleeping pills he'd given her. He made his way downstairs, where Cassie, Megan, and Matthew, Megan's older brother, awaited him.
"Leo, how are you?" Cassie asked, concern etched on her face. She'd last seen her brother being taken away by the police.
"I hope you've gotten rid of that stupid, ugly wife of yours," Cassie spat, venom in her voice. Megan chimed in, "Babe, I don't know why you married her when I was right here." Megan's lips brushed against Leo's cheek, annoying him further.
Seated next to Megan was Matthew Williams, Cassie's boyfriend and heir to the William empire. Matthew was a formidable competitor, vying for the top spot in the Arezea Mafia Gang (AMG), the most powerful gang in the country. Leo and Matthew had a long history of animosity, with each trying to outmaneuver and eliminate the other.
Matthew smirked, "Brother-in-law." Leo's anger flared. "I am not your brother-in-law." Matthew's grin widened. "Oh, but you are. I'm marrying your sister, and you're...well, you're fucking my sister. That makes us family, doesn't it?" Leo seethed, struggling to contain his fury.
He couldn't fathom why Cassie would marry Matthew, their family's sworn enemy. The feud between the Smiths and Williams was legendary, and Cassie's decision was a betrayal in Leo's eyes. He knew Matthew didn't truly love Cassie, and he suspected Cassie was blinded by her feelings. Leo's own relationship with Megan was a sham, a means to further his interests. He wondered how Cassie could be so naive.
"Cassie, I don't have time for games. Tell me, why am I here?" Leo's fury simmered just below the surface.
Cassie took a deep breath before dropping the bombshell: "Matthew and I are getting married."
Leo's eyes widened in shock, his face pale. He was speechless.
"Cassie, how could you?" he finally managed to stammer.
Cassie's voice trembled. "Leo, I know you're not happy, but I love Matthew. He's my world, and I couldn't imagine living without him."
Megan beamed with joy, clearly thrilled for the couple. "Ahh, this is amazing!" she exclaimed.
Megan turned to Leo, her expression softening. "Babe, your sister and my brother are in love. Why can't you just try to be happy for us? Matthew's trying to put an end to this feud between our families."
Matthew chimed in, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Yes, brother-in-law, I'm trying. Can't you just try to see things from our perspective?"
