Jungkook watched as his grandmother’s smile faltered.... her hands gripping the edge of the table tightly.....her expression...which had been filled with joy just moments ago.... suddenly shifted into something more cautious .....worried....

She blinked at him.... her lips parting slightly....but no words came out at first.... Then, after a long pause.... she whispered.... “Jungkook… do you remember why you all left Korea in the first place...?”

Her voice was gentle....but there was an underlying fear in it...one that made Jungkook’s heart ache....

Of course... he remembered... How could he forget the way his family had been forced to leave?... The hushed conversations late at night....the urgent departure....the fear in his mother’s eyes? ....But that was years ago.... Things were different now.

Jungkook reached across the table....placing his hand over hers reassuringly....“Halmeoni,” he said softly...“I know why we left..... But that was a long time ago....Things have changed.....”

His grandmother swallowed....her brows furrowing..... “Have they...?” ....she asked... searching his face..... “The world may see you as a star now... but power… real power....the kind that forced us away....does not fade so easily...."

Jungkook exhaled... giving her hand a gentle squeeze.... “I understand why you’re worried.... But trust me... Halmeoni.... I’m not that helpless child anymore.....”

His voice was steady... confident.... “I’ve built a life for myself.... I have influence... connections.... Nobody can touch me now.....”

His grandmother studied him for a long time...her wise eyes filled with emotions Jungkook couldn’t quite place....concern, longing, fear, and something else… something deeply buried....

After a long silence... she finally spoke...her voice barely above a whisper.....“And you are certain?.... That you will be safe here....?”

Jungkook smiled... nodding firmly. “Yes. I promise you everything will be okay...”

His grandmother let out a slow breath... and though the worry didn’t completely leave her face... she finally gave him a small nod.... “If this is what you truly want… then I won’t stop you..."

Jungkook felt a wave of relief wash over him. “It is what I want. I belong here...Halmeoni. With you....”

Tears glistened in her eyes... and she reached up to cup his face.... “Then I will trust you..my sweet baby ... But promise me...if anything feels wrong… if anything dangerous stirs again… you will not hesitate to leave....”

Jungkook covered her hand with his own... pressing his cheek against her palm....“I promise...."

For the first time since stepping foot back in Korea....Jungkook felt truly grounded.... No matter what the past had been....no matter what unknowns the future held...this was home.... And he was here to stay....
