"Valentina!" Alexander cried out when he saw her rise and then walk toward the closet to retrieve the black silk robe.
"What?" she asked incredulously, and then she put on the robe.
"What the hell are you doing?" he asked as he got to his feet.
"It's simple... I wanted you to understand that I am better than your anorexic mistress."
"You can't leave me like this!"
"Oh, I can! Remember, I'm the one who decides. Besides, you once said you'd never be with a woman like me. And now this curvy body makes you want to have sex," Valentina smirked, "but it turns out... Yes, Felipe is better than you because he knows how to touch this body that is art."
Valentina left the room in search of a guest one, while Alexander stormed out of the bedroom like a soul carried off by the devil.
"Valentina!" His strong growl echoed throughout the second floor.
But she kept walking, ignoring him. Alexander ran after her and grabbed her by the arm.
"Look at me!" he commanded, and she refused, especially since he was naked. "You're lying! You're a man, and I know this is your second time. Why the hell do you want to torture me?" he asked, agitated.
"Because you have to pay for all that you've done to me!" she looked him in the eyes, and a sepulchral silence fell because they looked at each other without blinking, because there was something both wanted to say but pride and pain wouldn't allow it, bitterness completely blinds you. "Anything else?" Valentina asked, mustering strength from where there was none.
But Alexander did not speak, simply lowering his eyes to his wife's lips, which he kissed with tenderness—or was it? Valentina felt a twinge in her heart.
She pushed him away slightly. "Don't do this. I'm not the same fool you kept as submissive; things have changed."
"Have you forgotten about me?" he asked, looking at her with curiosity.
"What for? Whether the answer is yes or no, nothing will change. It's clear to me that you love her."
"Damn it, Valentina! Lower your damn defenses!"
"I can't..."
"I want to... I want..." Alexander was interrupted by his best friend, who had no choice but to enter the mansion because Mrs. Williams had called to inform him that Mr. Williams had been taken to the emergency room with signs of a heart attack.
"Shit!" Milan turned away when he saw him naked.
"What are you doing here!?" Alexander exclaimed, surprised.
"I'm sorry, Alex, but your mother called me, because you don't answer her calls. Your father is in poor health; your mother asks for your presence."
"God!" Valentina was astonished, she ran back to her room to get dressed.
"What the hell are you telling me?" Alexander was distressed.
"You should get dressed, my friend; your mother needs you."
Alexander placed his right hand on his head out of concern, and then walked toward his room, where Valentina was just finishing getting changed.
"Everything will be fine," Valentina softened her voice because she knew that the head of the family was important to Alexander, even though he had forced him to marry Valentina.
Alexander didn't respond, quickly getting dressed.
As they left the mansion, Alexander was anxious, very anxious. He was afraid, which Valentina knows very well, even though he has never opened his heart to his father.
Upon arriving at the private clinic, Alexander got out of the car, distressed.
"Thanks for letting us know, Milan," Valentina said as she got out of the car, but Milan also stepped out and approached her, taking her hand as Alexander had left.
Valentina freed herself from his grip, not liking it at all, and gave him a piercing look. "What's the matter, Milan?"
"I'm just offering my support," he said, looking her directly in the eyes.
"That's not the right way; I'm your best friend's wife. I didn't like your impulse," Valentina frowned.
"Don't take it the wrong way," he hurried to say.
Valentina shook her head and went to the emergency module.
Upon arrival, Mrs. Williams embraced Alexander tightly, and he offered his support.
Valentina didn't want to interrupt; she silently watched Alexander's sentimental side.
"My child," Mrs. Williams uttered softly, sensing Valentina's presence. Alexander stopped his embrace, and Mrs. Williams walked over to Valentina and hugged her tightly.
"Everything will be alright. Mr. Williams is a very strong man," Valentina consoled her.
"Oh, my dear! Life without my old man is meaningless."
"Excuse the interruption, Mr. Williams is requesting his son's presence," the nurse informed.
Alexander looked at his mother and wife and then followed the nurse.
Entering the room, his father didn't look well.
"Father," Alexander approached.
"Alexander," he whispered with difficulty and then coughed, although he had been treated and suggested to rest, Mr. Williams insisted on seeing his son.
"Don't speak, Father, remember Mother is waiting for you. Don't do this," Alexander spoke bitterly, hating death.
"Son... Tell me, did you ever come to love the woman I chose for you?"
"It's not the time, Father."
"Yes... Yes, it is," Mr. Williams placed his hand on his heart. "Some photos came to me, in which you're with a woman, very happy, and you've proposed marriage," Mr. Williams started to cough.
"Father, please stay calm."
"Shut up! You have an excellent woman and you're neglecting her. That's clearer to me now than why you haven't given me grandchildren."
"Father, I..."
"How could you!?" the ailing man flared, startling Alexander.
