Episode 9

Valentina held her gaze steady, and Kelly left the office, saved by the bell.

When Alexander faced her, he couldn't help but intensify his stare.

"Let me explain, Mrs. Williams. This company is managed by your husband. You'll work here, but I'm in charge. You can't make me look like a fool. If I give an order, it's followed! You want to work? It's simple; I'm the boss here!" Alexander's expression was relaxed, his hands slipped into his trouser pockets, and truthfully, he looked too handsome.

Valentina crossed her arms and then raised an eyebrow. "What will be my area of work?"

"You'll be my assistant," he replied instantly.

"No, you have Kelly for that."

"Kelly's construction job is too much, isn't it? You have so much sympathy for her? You two will both work for me."

"I'll also be more involved in the business side."

"That sounds perfect," he smiled mischievously, and Valentina had the feeling he wanted to do something against her.

Someone knocked on the door.

"Come in," Alexander commanded without taking his eyes off Valentina.

"Good morning, Mr. Williams, shall we go to the meeting?" Mr. Gutenberg asked.

Valentina hadn't forgotten that voice, and she was embarrassed by what had happened last time.

She turned to look at him.

"Good... morning, Mrs. Williams," Gutenberg greeted her cordially.

"Sir, a pleasure to see you again," she smiled sweetly, and Alexander frowned.

"What brings you here?" he asked curiously, influenced by recent events.

"She's my wife! Isn't it obvious she'd come to see me?" Alexander fumed.

"I work here, Mr. Gutenberg. Can I have a few minutes of your time?" Valentina could feel Alexander's intense gaze.

"Of course, Mrs. Williams."

"We're here to work! So, let's go!" Alexander ordered irritably.

"Please step outside for a moment," Valentina left the office, indifferent to Alexander's words.

Gutenberg, without looking at Alexander, followed her out. And though she was married, he mentally cursed himself for having an inappropriate thought about her.

They moved to a corner of the hallway.

"I want to apologize for what happened."

"Don't, I enjoyed your company, Mrs. Williams."

"Just... Valentina, please."

He smiled seductively.

"You... are radiant today."

"Thank you," she blushed at the compliment.

"We're leaving!" Alexander, who could wait no longer, exited the office.

Valentina approached Alexander with a broad smile.

"I'm coming with you, Mr. Williams," she intervened.

"Darling, drop the formalities with me," he took her hand, but Valentina tried to pull away, and Alexander wouldn't let her.

Felipe Gutenberg, a civil engineer responsible for client relations and design work for buildings, mansions, and businesses, also provided them with a list of material expenses which the company sold, demonstrating his competence.

Felipe remained silent, and then they left the company to head to the meeting which, if successful, would be beneficial for the construction company.

In the car, the driver took them to the meeting point, and Valentina, sitting between the two men, crossed her legs, which were long, shapely, and full.

Alexander, displeased, laid his hand on Valentina's leg and gently caressed it. She removed his hand, then he grabbed her face to pull her closer.

"Let go," she whispered, embarrassed by Felipe's presence.

"You look very lovely today, dear wife. You can't imagine my desire to make you mine," his deep and sexy voice quickened Valentina's heart.

She freed herself from his grip.

"Don't you dare kiss me! You recently kissed your mistress! How disgusting!" Valentina maintained her composure.

Alexander adjusted his tie, not anticipating her boldness.

To avoid a hostile atmosphere, Valentina conversed with Felipe, much to Alexander's increasing annoyance.

Upon arriving at the crucial meeting, the curvaceous, beautiful Valentina became the focus of the three businessmen awaiting them.

As they approached the table, the men exchanged greetings, and before Valentina could introduce herself, Alexander said, "My wife, Mrs. Williams, is attending this meeting because she is my assistant." He courteously adjusted her chair, and she took a seat gracefully. When Alexander sat down, he immediately grabbed Valentina's hand, which made Felipe think of Alexander's jealousy.

Felipe started the meeting with a discussion about the quality material the businessmen were considering for their new project, as the three were partners.

Alexander was responsible for finalizing the price, signing off, and guaranteeing the material's quality.

Valentina paid close attention, eager to learn and excel in this field, determined to demonstrate her business acumen to Alexander. She highlighted the key points in her notebook and silently analyzed every man, impressed by Felipe's efficacy and by how passionately Alexander devoted himself to his work, speaking fluently, politely, yet assertively.

What struck her most was that Alexander did not let go of her hand, causing her discomfort.

As they were about to seal the deal with a signature.

"Excuse me, gentlemen," she stood up, but Alexander still held her hand.

"Where are you going, my love?" he asked affectionately.

"To the restroom. Can you let go of me, please?" she requested through clenched teeth.

"Gentlemen, I'll be right back," Alexander stood up. "I'll accompany you, darling. I don't want you getting lost," he grinned mischievously.

Valentina gave him a chilling look.

But still, she walked with him, and as they reached the restroom area, she broke free from his grasp.

"What is your problem?" she snapped at his possessiveness.

"Didn't you want me to love you? Then stop complaining!"

She swallowed hard, not wanting to argue, but as she entered the bathroom stall, she felt cornered. "Stay away from Gutenberg," Alexander commanded, whispering in her ear.
