Episode 12

Doctor Boris, deeply concerned about Scott's health, calls his right-hand man and friend, Miguel, who quickly rushed to help Scott after saying goodbye to Nicol.

Scott Hamilton adamantly refuses to believe that his illness is curable, despite not having deteriorated yet. He maintains a healthy diet and exercises regularly. However, his pale skin sometimes reflects his poor health.

"Doctor, why did he faint?" Miguel anxiously asks.

"I warned you, this disease is progressively getting worse, Mr. Miguel. Moreover, Mr. Hamilton refuses to even attempt treating it," the doctor responds.

"Don't worry, Doctor. Where is he?" Miguel inquires.

"At the moment, he's on the balcony, Mr. Miguel. Thankfully, the fainting episode was not prolonged. However, it is concerning that things may be worsening, especially with the coughing up blood. I'll be in my office," the doctor replies.

With a long sigh, the doctor leaves.

Miguel reaches Scott and is infuriated to see him smoking a cigarette. Miguel immediately snatches the cigarette, and Scott becomes defensive.

"What gives you the right to do that?" Scott glares at Miguel.

"I'm your friend and right-hand man. I feel entitled to take care of you, even if you're annoyed with me. Until when, Scott? You're destroying your life," Miguel says firmly.

"I'm going to die anyway!" Scott exclaims desperately, turning his back to Miguel. He doesn't want anyone to witness his despair, afraid that death will strike at any moment.

"Scott, you have a lot of money. You're a millionaire. You could try a treatment, let me help you find the best doctor or medicine in some country," Miguel suggests.

"No, Miguel! We've discussed it before. Don't insist, damn it. What's the point of having false hopes? I hate my life ever since this shitty disease came into it. My life was perfect, the best. What have I done to deserve this?" Scott lowers his gaze.

"If you're talking about Alexa, you chose to push her away from your life," Miguel mentions, causing Scott to tense up.

"Because she doesn't deserve to live alongside a sick millionaire. Why condemn her? This is a shitty life," Scott exclaims.

"I know you love her and miss her, Scott. You could at least call her," Miguel suggests.

"No! I want her far away from my life, and I don't want anyone else to come back either. I don't want to talk anymore, Miguel. Take me home, I'm fed up. I need to smoke," Scott insists.

"You won't do it. Let's go; I need to talk to you."

In the car.

"Stop beating around the bush and tell me straight," Scott speaks arrogantly.

"Why did you hurt Nicol?" Miguel speaks through gritted teeth.

Scott falls silent.

"You promised you wouldn't be harsh with her," Miguel continues.

"Do you care?" Scott glares at him.

"She's just a child. Didn't you realize, you damn idiot!"

"And what do you want me to do? Give her little kisses and treat her with love I don't feel? You knew perfectly well why I need a woman like her. Love and compassion mean nothing here, and when I die, she'll inherit my fortune and the child she gives me. That's how I'll compensate her," Scott fixates his gaze on the streets.

"She doesn't deserve that," Miguel shakes his head.

"If you like her so much, wait until I die, and I'll give you permission to have her," Scott's sarcastic comment makes Miguel abruptly hit the brakes.

Scott reacts with astonishment.

"What's wrong with you?" Scott shouts irritably.

"I shouldn't have to put up with your nonsense. Nicol is a very sweet and gentle girl. It was her first time, you imbecile. You could have been more patient. I found her crying and terrified. Is that the image you want to leave her with? Have you considered what she'll say about you, Nicol, if they have a child one day and that child asks about their father?" Miguel's words strike Scott's heart.

That is the problem, why the only woman I love is called Alexa, and why I don't want Nicol to have feelings for me, let's stop being stupid. She has never had a boyfriend and despite my illness, I am not messed up. I know what I have and what I cause in a woman, so I don't intend to have pity on Nicol. Later, I will make it clear why I behave the way I do with her, and I will do that as soon as you're three meters under the ground, but nothing more. And Miguel, I suggest you mind your own business and I don't want you to go see her often," Scott orders.

"Why don't you want me to?" Miguel asks, suppressing his anger.

"Because I said so. Now, stop bothering me, Miguel, and take me home," Scott orders, and Miguel, without saying anything, drives while mentally thinking about Nicol and how foolish Scott is.

The next day, Nicol had a strange nightmare that plagued her and she couldn't sleep well.

As she brushes her teeth and gets ready.

"Cappuccino, I'll feed you now. The garden of this house looks fine, I'll take you for a walk later. There's nothing else to do," Nicol sighs.

She goes out with her hamster and walks to the kitchen, but her heart races when she sees a delicious breakfast on the table. There is a rose and a note on it. Nicol looks around, then looks at Cappuccino. She swallows hard and then approaches to read the small note.
