Episode 16

NARRATOR: Alexander went to his study and started to work on some company tasks, but try as he might, he couldn't focus, so he left his study and headed straight for his girlfriend's apartment. Upon arriving, he thought he saw a familiar car, but didn't pay it any mind. He reached the door and rang the doorbell.

DING DONG...DING DONG

That's when the door swung open.

ANGELA: Love, what are you doing here? – she said, somewhat nervously, clad only in a bathrobe with nothing underneath – I wasn't expecting you. I thought you'd be with your "wife."

ALEXANDER: Darling, how can you ask what I'm doing here? I couldn't stand to be near that woman a minute longer. I don't want her, but why are you surprised? You know I miss you terribly, and that's why I came. Or could it be that you don't want me here? Are you expecting someone else? – he inquired curiously.

ANGELA: What are you talking about, love? Of course not, who would I be expecting dressed like this? You're the only one who sees me this way – she replied, growing more nervous yet forcing herself to calm down.

ALEXANDER: Ah... The very thought of being under the same roof as her was unbearable. All I wanted was to see you, beautiful – he said, leaning in for a kiss, but Angela pushed him away – Is something wrong? Are you still upset? Tell me, darling.

ANGELA: No, my love, of course not. I was just about to take a shower when you arrived – Ah, now how do I hide the fact that I've just had sex?

NARRATOR: Moments before Alexander arrived, Angela was with her lover, tangled in the same bed where she had often been with Alexander. If her lover hadn't received a call from work, they might still be there, and Alexander might have caught them. This is why she was incredibly nervous about Alexander encountering her lover, but she composed herself to figure out how to avoid intimacy with Alexander and keep her secret safe.

ANGELA: Moreover, I'm on my period and you know I don't feel comfortable then – Hopefully, he doesn't insist – Are you upset?

ALEXANDER: Of course not, darling. Why would I be upset about that? It's completely normal – he said, embracing her and noticing the scent of sweat – Were you exercising?

ANGELA: Yes, I... was trying to distract myself, to not dwell on the events of the past few weeks – Ha, I have you exactly where I want you – You see, sadness hits me out of nowhere and before I know it, I'm crying.

ALEXANDER: Sweetheart, you don’t know how much this situation hurts me too, but let’s not talk about that right now. Why don’t you take your shower, and afterwards we can go out to eat, okay?

ANGELA: But what if... someone who attended your wedding sees you? They'll start saying that you're cheating on your wife, and I don't want to be marked as the other woman – she lamented.

ALEXANDER: You have a point, my love. It's better we order food here and watch a movie, what do you think?

ANGELA: Okay, I'll be right back – she said, giving him a kiss, grateful that the idiot didn’t notice any marks, which would surely have sent her soaring with pleasure. But no matter, I'll have my revenge.

NARRATOR: As Angela showered, Alexander was ordering dinner and choosing a movie to watch. Meanwhile, Kiara was being treated kindly by Matilde, who, despite not knowing Kiara at all, treated her with much affection and respect, something Angela had never achieved. To MATILDE, Angela appeared plainly superficial, but she recognized something different in KIARA – although not conventionally attractive with her clothes and glasses, MATILDE saw a good wife in her.

MATILDE: Dear, this is your room – she gave her the furthest room by Alejandro’s request, since he didn't want her near.

But far from bothering Kiara, this was perfect for her; the room was much nicer than what she had at her old place.

KIARA: Oh, it's beautiful, MATILDE, thank you.

MATILDE: It's nothing, my child. I would have liked for you to share a room with Alejandro – I hope that happens someday.

KIARA: Oh, MATILDE, don't get your hopes up. I didn't get married out of love, but out of obligation to my father. And ALEJANDRO has a girlfriend whom he loves. I won't be the cause of their breakup.

MATILDE: My child, how can you say that? He is your husband, and you can't let another woman take him from you. You must fight for what is yours. You are the wife and lady, in the eyes of people and before God. You have to assert your rights.

Said MATILDE, very upset by the behavior of those two stubborn people.

KIARA: Hahaha... You cannot fight for something you never had. Neither of us is happy.

MATILDE: But my child... – before she could say more, Kiara cut her off.

KIARA: Matilde, I appreciate it, I know you mean well, but please, I ask you not to insist on something that will never happen – That's as likely as a dog falling in love with me, Kiara thought of her so-called husband.

MATILDE: Alright, my child, but I hope someday you won't regret being so stubborn and missing the chance to love each other and start a family... Excuse me.

KIARA wondered what all that was about... but decided not to dwell on it and started unpacking.
