Episode 5

MR. MACOLIS (grandfather): Well, what if "KIARA and ALEJANDRO" have a chat alone, get to know each other a bit better before they get married, make it less awkward and not feel like two "strangers."

GERARDO (father): What a fine idea, Mr. Macolis. Kiara, go with your fiance to the garden to get better acquainted.

KIARA: Oh yes, father, as you say—just what I needed, them wanting to play matchmaker, as if I had asked to get married, and now we have to "get to know" each other better... as if I cared. Ugh, I'm so over this—come this way, Mr. Alejandro.

...ALEJANDRO MACOLIS...

...KIARA SMITH...

MR. MACOLIS (grandfather): My dear, why do you address the man who will be your husband so formally? You must trust him—that's the secret to any marriage—he said with a smile.

ALEJANDRO: My grandfather is right; you don't have to call me that. You can just call me ALEJANDRO—he stated sternly.

KIARA: Oh, I see. If that's how you want it, I'll call you by your first name. Please, this way, ALEJANDRO—she said, getting up and heading to the garden.

NARRATOR...

Kiara walked to the garden with ALEJANDRO, wondering why he had agreed to this marriage when it was clear from a mile away that he was not happy about this union. More than a marriage, it felt to her like stepping out of one hell into another. They reached the garden in total silence, and before she could speak, ALEJANDRO abruptly cut in and said...

ALEJANDRO: Let’s cut through all this charade, and tell me—what's your price to call off this ludicrous wedding?—he asked very seriously and annoyedly.

KIARA: WHAT? 😡You think that I want to get married?—she asked in the same tone as him... this jerk, what does he take himself for? Ugh, just what I was missing😬.

ALEJANDRO: 😠Now you play the offended, as if I’d buy that. Come on, if you don’t want to marry, why not simply say, "I do not want to get married," and problem solved. Is it that hard to say those words?—he said, clearly irked.

KIARA: All I’ll tell you is that I can't break off this ridiculous marriage, and it's not because I want to—I am forced to marry**. If I could, I would call it off without hesitation. Do you really think I'm thrilled to marry someone I've barely seen for seconds?—said a very upset Kiara.

ALEJANDRO: Aha, and I suppose I’m to believe you? Do I look stupid to fall for that? Surely you’re the one who insisted on this marriage.

KIARA: Hahahahaha, don't make me laugh. Why would I insist on marrying someone whose name or face I don't even know? To be honest, I thought my "fiance" was your grandfather because he was the first to come in.

ALEJANDRO: Well, whatever the case, there's no point in arguing over spilt milk, because we’re going to get married either way. But remember this—I have no intention of sharing a bed. We'll sleep separately, live our lives as we see fit. In front of our families, we'll play the perfect couple, but behind closed doors, it’s a different story—we’ll just be two people living in the same house, got it?—he asked seriously with a cold gaze.

KIARA: Just like that?... Fine by me—I have no issue with that. But it means I can go out whenever I want and come back whenever I please—she asked... He responded with a nod, which pleased her greatly. At least there was some advantage to this marriage.
