Episode 13

NARRATOR: Kiara went to the vanity and left Mr. Macolis alone with Alejandro.

GRANDFATHER: ALEJANDRO, could you change that face of yours? It looks like you're at a funeral instead of your wedding,” said the old man a bit angrily at his grandson's demeanor.

ALEJANDRO: Please, Grandfather, don't ask more of me than I can give. I can no longer stand this situation; it's getting on my nerves and any moment now I'm going to explode,” he said, clenching his teeth with stress.

GRANDFATHER: Well, you'll just have to bear it. We have a deal and you can't break it, plus I'm not asking for the moon—you can do this,” the old man said, holding back the urge to slap his stubborn grandson. “So, behave appropriately."

ALEJANDRO: And how do you expect me to do that, Grandfather? By pretending to be happy about marrying someone I don't wish to, forced into a situation you put me in, my own flesh and blood? You know what, I don't want to talk about it any longer," he said when he saw his bride approaching, looking somewhat odd, but he didn't pay much attention to it.

NARRATED BY KIARA: I'm going to the bathroom because honestly, pretending this wedding brings me joy in front of so many people is stressful, plus my father won't stop giving me disapproving looks.

I arrived at the bathroom to splash some water on my face and relax, and then I heard someone else enter, but I didn't pay attention. But when they spoke, I didn’t need to turn around to know who they were.

ELIZABETH: How’s it going, little sister?" she asked mockingly. "What’s it feel like to marry an extremely handsome, wealthy, sought-after man but, as his wife, not being able to enjoy such perfection? What a shame, hahaha.

LUCIANA: HAHAHA, just leave her alone, she’s not worth it. Anyway, whether or not she catches his attention, she’ll just be in the way in the family, and we'll be happy without your horrid presence."

KIARA: Are you done? Well, you can say whatever you want; the truth is, it's been a long time since your words mattered to me... they no longer affect me. Just one thing," she said, pointing at them, "you two will regret everything you've done to me, be sure of that."

With that, she left the bathroom without giving them a chance to respond.

The sisters remained furious, unable to achieve their goal of making her feel bad with their words.

KIARA: I'm back; honestly, I'm tired; can we go?" she asked timidly. "Please."

ALEJANDRO: Yes, I was about to say that as soon as you returned. Let’s say goodbye to your family," he said more out of obligation than desire.

KIARA: Mr. Macolis, everything turned out beautifully, thank you so much. I hope to see you again, goodbye," she thanked the man who had given her kindness and love from the beginning—something her own parents had never done in her entire life.

They reached where her parents and sisters were.

ALEJANDRO: Mr. and Mrs. Smith, it was a pleasure meeting you; ladies, it was a pleasure," he said, not even bothering to smile.

Mr. SMITH: The pleasure is all ours. I hope you treat my princess well and take care of her. And hopefully, you'll never come back because the day she separates from you, I won't open my house doors to her again.
