In the night

I grab the broom and proceed to sweep up the glass, careful not to cut myself.

Afterwards, I pull the shutters over the broken windows, shut and draw the curtains.

Phoebe

(There, all done!)

After changing into my nightgown, I crawl under my covers.

Deep weariness settles in my bones.

Phoebe

(I don't think I've ever been this exhausted before.)

Phoebe

(So much has happened. I have trouble wrapping my head around everything.)

I yawn and look around at the familiar contours of my room.

Phoebe

(I'm fortunate Nicole showed up when she did and saved me.)

Phoebe

(And Quinn said the monsters are tired of hiding. What did she mean?)

Phoebe

(What monsters are out there, if any?)

I close my eyes and mull over Quinn's mysterious words until I fall asleep.

A loud insistent knocking pulls me from sleep.

I sit up and rub my ears.

Phoebe

(Who's that)

The knocking continues.
