We should go. The sooner you get back, the more sleep you'll be able to get.

I gently shove her towards the door.

You look exhausted. Go get some sleep.

She smiles and leaves. Shutting the front door behind her.

I take a deep breath, listening to the silence in the house.

(It's strange being in the house without Father.)

(How quickly my life has changed.)

(Any other day, I'd be getting up to prepare breakfast.)

(Instead, I'm preparing to go to bed.)

I look down the darkened hall, grimacing.

(I should clean the study.)

(Father wouldn't want me to leave a mess.)

(But I am so tired.)
