Chapter 7

"I don't know John, no one would tell me. All I know is that I need to find it on my own. And you'll help me, right?"

"Like always!" We both chuckled.

At that very moment, I saw into his eyes. And I remembered my moms words again. I smiled forcing my face to look on the other side so that he wouldn't see.

And the time went on. It was now night. My mom called me and I told her that I would be staying at John's so she shouldn't worry about me. Them I called Henry. But there was no answer. I texted him but to my dismay,there was no reply. I felt worried.

I asked John,

"He isn't replying me. He freaking me out. I mean, what did I do wrong?!"

"Don't worry Bells. Why don't we check out his house now?. Come on lets go".

We started to the streets. It was cold now. Winter was coming. But deep inside I knew something bad was going to happen. I poured up a gaze on John. He was walking by my side .I wonder what he thinks about me. He never spoke about himself, his feelings. He always took too much care of me while pretending he is not.

Soon we arrived at his house. John knocked at the door. My heart started beating faster as soon as I heard Henry's voice shouting from inside. John knocked again and this time, things in the house went quite.

Henry's mother, Amelia opened he door and force a smile when she saw us.

"Oh Cassie, come dear. John come inside dear.", her voice was still trembling.

I saw the living room all scattered up.

"Please ignore the disturbance dear, actually we just found Kevin. He was hiding at his friend's place as usual"

"Oh aunt Amelia, I am so relieved. Its a great news." I said with my voice full of excitement and a huge smile on my face. I hugged her and told her that everything is now fine.

Kevin was always a troubled child. He was easily offended and had a bad relationship with his dad, Simon. I never understood why because Uncle Simon was such a sweet man. Even though I was not his daughter, he always treated me. He brought gifts for me on every occasion and loved me so much.

John sat on the sofa beside me and my aunt asked if we wanted anything to eat. I scanned through the room but found no sign of Henry. I asked her if I could see him. She told me that he went to his room upstairs just now. She told us that he was upset about Kevin because that little boy always added to the family's worries. I asked John to stay there while I went up to Henry's room.The door was shut. I knocked and told that it was me. There was no reply. I turned the knob and went inside. Henry was lying on his daybed with his face towards the ceiling. His eyes moved towards me and that is when I realized that he had been crying cause they were all red and buggy.

"Henry, are you okay?"

He continued to stare at me with tears of hate in his eyes. He had never looked at me that way. I was scared that I had done something to offend him but I could not remember anything I had done bad to him. His continuous looks of hatred gave me chills but I gathered the courage to speak up.

"Henry, what is it? It's okay you can share with me".

I moved closer to him and placed my hand on his shoulder. With one quick movement, he flinched my hand back and began with a harsh tone.

"Go away Cassie!"

"Henry please, tell me what it is. I can help you."

"Help me?! Help! You only make things worse. Always! GET OUT OF MY ROOM!"

His chest was growling with anger and frustration.

"Henry, is it about Kevin? Look he is home now. Everything will be fine now."He looked and paced towards me. He pinned me fiercely on the side wall and shouted.

"NOTHING IS GOING TO BE FINE. You have ruined everything! Kevin went away from us because of you! You are the problem, understood?! I HATE YOU.GET LOST NOW!"

My heart was thumping wildly. Tears started blinding my vision. I was utterly shocked and was unable to comprehend any of his words.

I started with my trembling and already choking voice.

"What did I do? Why are you so mad at me?! If Kevin can't stay in his house then what's my mistake in it?!"

But my words only added to his wrath and did no good to the situation. His face was now red and I could see the thin veins of his cheeks bulging out. He shouted on the top of his voice and banged me hard on the wall again, tightening his grip over my shoulders.

"YOU FREAK! YOU ADOPTED FREAK! It's because of you my father never pays attention to me or my little brother. I want you to disappear from our lives. YOU FRE**...!"
