[Mansion’s Backyard – Afternoon]

Kian dribbles a basketball, his small frame moving swiftly as he giggles, dodging past Liam Carter, tall, athletic, and grinning as he lets the kid feel like he’s winning.

kian chris [SON]

You’re too slow, Uncle Liam!

Liam carter [FL FRIEND]

(laughs) Oh really? Watch this!

He lunges, but Kian twists away, making a show of shooting the ball. It bounces off the rim, and before he can grab it, another hand snatches it mid-air.

Elysian Chris [FEMALE LEAD]

Nice try, champ.

Kian’s eyes widen as he looks up at his mother, who now stands between him and Liam, spinning the ball on her fingertip with ease.

kian chris [SON]

Mom! You never play with me!

Elysian Chris [FEMALE LEAD]

(smirks) Maybe I was waiting for the right challenge.

Liam carter [FL FRIEND]

Oh? So I wasn’t good enough before?

Elisyan shoots him a knowing look, something flickering between them history, unspoken and lingering.

kian chris [SON]

(excitedly) Mom! You and Uncle Liam play against me!

Liam carter [FL FRIEND]

(grinning) You sure you can handle both of us, little man?

kian chris [SON]

(grinning back) Try me!

[A Few Minutes Later]

Kian sprints across the makeshift court, laughing as he dodges Liam and Elisyan’s playful attempts to steal the ball. But Elisyan is faster than she looks, She intercepts, dribbles, and fakes a shot before passing it to Liam, who dunks it effortlessly.

kian chris [SON]

(pouting) Unfair! You guys are too tall!

Elysian Chris [FEMALE LEAD]

(teasing) That’s life, sweetheart.

Liam chuckles, glancing at her with a warmth that makes her chest tighten... nostalgia creeping in like an old melody.

kian chris [SON]

(softly) Still got those quick reflexes, huh?

Elysian Chris [FEMALE LEAD]

(smirks) You expected anything less?

For a second, neither of them moves. The air between them shifts comfortable, yet… complicated. Then Kian, impatient, tugs on Elisyan’s hand.

kian chris [SON]

Mom, were you and Uncle Liam a team before?

Elysian Chris [FEMALE LEAD]

(Elisyan hesitates, but Liam answers for her)

Liam carter [FL FRIEND]

(gentle smile) Yeah, buddy. We used to be a great team.

Elisyan’s fingers tighten slightly around the ball. The past feels closer than ever.

[From the Balcony – A Silent Observer]

Evan/Ethan [ASSISTANT]

(Evan watches from a distance, his expression unreadable)

His grip on the railing tightens as he watches the scene unfold below, the easy laughter, the familiarity between Elisyan and Liam.

(He tells himself it doesn’t matter. That he doesn’t care. But the way his jaw clenches says otherwise)
