The balcony was thick with tension. Rafael’s touch still lingered on Elisyan’s skin as she turned to face Evan.

Evan/Ethan [ASSISTANT]

(His cold, calculating gaze bore into hers, his stance rigid with barely restrained anger)

Rafael, in contrast.

Rafael Morozov

(Remained relaxed, a smirk playing on his lips)

Evan, was it? You seem rather... protective.

Evan’s jaw clenched. His fingers twitched at his side, itching to rip Rafael away from her, but he kept his composure.

Evan/Ethan [ASSISTANT]

What the hell were you thinking?

Elysian Chris [FEMALE LEAD]

(Elisyan arched a brow) Excuse me?

Evan/Ethan [ASSISTANT]

You let your guard down. (His eyes flicked to the wine glass on the railing.)

Evan/Ethan [ASSISTANT]

You drank something offered by a man like him without hesitation.

Evan/Ethan [ASSISTANT]

Do you have any idea how reckless that was?

Rafael Morozov

(Rafael chuckled) Now, now, there’s no need for hostility. I assure you, Elisyan can handle herself.

Evan/Ethan [ASSISTANT]

(Evan’s glare darkened) Stay out of this.

Elysian Chris [FEMALE LEAD]

(Elisyan crossed her arms, her voice laced with amusement)

Elysian Chris [FEMALE LEAD]

I didn’t know you cared so much, Evan.

For a fleeting second, something unreadable passed through Evan's eyes anger, concern, something deeper. But it vanished just as quickly.

Evan/Ethan [ASSISTANT]

I don’t. But if you die, you make my job harder.

Rafael Morozov

(Rafael let out a low whistle)

Rafael Morozov

Such a charmer. Tell me, Evan, do you always talk to your employer this way?

Evan/Ethan [ASSISTANT]

(Evan ignored him and stepped closer to Elisyan, his voice low)

Evan/Ethan [ASSISTANT]

From now on, you don’t go anywhere alone. You don’t accept drinks from strangers.

Evan/Ethan [ASSISTANT]

You don’t let yourself be cornered on a damn balcony. Am I clear?

Elysian Chris [FEMALE LEAD]

(Elisyan smiled slowly, her sharp gaze unwavering)

Elysian Chris [FEMALE LEAD]

I don’t recall hiring a babysitter.

Evan/Ethan [ASSISTANT]

(Evan exhaled sharply, stepping back)

Evan/Ethan [ASSISTANT]

Then try not to act like a reckless child.

Elysian Chris [FEMALE LEAD]

(The words stung, but she refused to show it. Instead, she turned to Rafael, flashing a confident smile)

Elysian Chris [FEMALE LEAD]

Rafael, it was a pleasure as always. But I think I’ve had enough entertainment for one night.

Rafael Morozov

(Rafael inclined his head, his smirk unwavering)

Rafael Morozov

The pleasure is always mine, Elisyan. But I do hope next time, your shadow won’t be so overbearing.

Evan stayed silent as Elisyan brushed past him, her scent lingering as she walked back into the party. Rafael watched her go before turning to Evan, amusement deepening in his eyes.

Rafael Morozov

You’re interesting, Evan. There’s something about you... familiar, even.

Evan/Ethan [ASSISTANT]

(Evan’s muscles tensed) Stay away from her.

Rafael Morozov

(Rafael chuckled) Or what?

Evan didn’t answer. He turned and walked away, leaving Rafael alone on the balcony, the night stretching endlessly before him.

One thing was clear.

This was only the beginning




