Episode 5: “The Curse You Swallowed”
[Opening Scene – Red Hawk Village Cliffs, Early Morning]
The camera pans to Kai, shirtless, punching a large wooden post. His fists are bruised, sweat pouring down his face. He gasps for air but doesn’t stop.
Kai (panting): “I need to be strong... I need to be strong enough to join him.”
He recalls the moment the cloaked man sliced the sea monster with one blow. That glowing sword. That overwhelming presence.
[Training Montage]
Kai lifting buckets of water tied to a stick on his back.
Running uphill with a log on his shoulders.
Trying (and failing) to slice a tree trunk with a stick.
Practicing quick dodges as Amara throws roots at him playfully.
Sparring with Rek in cheetah form, narrowly dodging his strikes.
Amara (smiling, arms crossed): “He’s got spirit, I’ll give him that.”
Rek (grinning): “Or he’s just crazy.”
[Later – The Crew at a Local Bar]
The mysterious pirate crew, now revealed to be the Crimson Fang Pirates, are drinking and laughing in the Red Hawk Tavern. The captain sits calmly at the head of the table.
He’s finally named—Captain Sharn.
He wears a long red coat with gold trim and has the same silver hair and scar over one eye. His sword, Divine Hope, is always within reach.
Sharn (smirking, toasting a mug of ale): “To calm seas and strong hearts!”
Everyone cheers.
Kai sits among them, sipping a glass of orange juice.
Kai (grinning): “One day I’ll toast with ale too!”
[On the Counter – A Mysterious PURPLE FRUIT sits unattended]
Its skin pulses lightly. It looks both tempting and... odd.
Kai (curious): “Huh? What’s this…?”
Without thinking—CHOMP!
Kai: “GAAAHH!! That’s disgusting!”
Crew Member: “Oi! What did you just eat?!”
Captain Sharn (turning slowly, eyes wide): “...You BASTARD.”
He leaps from his seat.
Sharn: “That was a Devil Fruit! You just ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi...!”
Kai: “The what now—wait, why is my arm—AAAH!”
Kai’s arm stretches across the bar as he flails around. Everyone gasps.
Sharn (tense): “You’ve cursed yourself. You’ll never swim again.”
Kai tries to spit it out—but it’s too late. He swallowed everything.
[Suddenly – Earthquake-like vibrations]
BOOM.
A deafening roar comes from the sea.
Villager: “IT’S THE KRAKEN!!”
A massive, monstrous Kraken rises from the sea, tentacles thrashing, its eyes glowing red.
Crew scrambles.
Kai (eyes shining): “A challenge…”
He rushes toward the docks.
[Battle – The Kraken vs Kai]
Kai stretches his arms, trying to punch it.
Kai: “Gomu Gomu no... Rocket Punch!!”
He hits the kraken’s eye—but it barely flinches.
The Kraken slams Kai with one of its giant tentacles—sending him flying deep into the sea.
Kai (sinking): “Oh no... I can’t swim...”
He struggles, bubbles rising as he drowns.
The Kraken dives after him.
[Suddenly – Divine Light underwater]
A flash slices through the sea.
The Kraken’s head is cleanly cut off, drifting slowly to the ocean floor.
Captain Sharn swims down, grabs Kai, and launches upward using a burst of Haki-infused speed.
[On Shore – Kai coughs water]
Sharn kneels beside him, silent.
Kai (weakly): “...You saved me…”
Sharn (sternly): “Idiot. You’re no longer a normal kid. Devil Fruit powers come at a cost. Next time, that Kraken might kill you before I get there.”
Kai (smiling faintly): “...But I hurt it... I actually hurt it…”
Sharn (sighs, standing): “Tch. You’ve got guts. I’ll give you that.”
He walks away.
Kai (sits up): “One day… I’ll be strong enough to stand beside him. No matter what it takes.”
[End Scene – Captain Sharn staring out to sea]
Sharn (thinking): “That boy… Kai… could be more trouble than he's worth. But he reminds me... of someone.”
