Episode 9: “Sabo of the Staff”

[Open Scene – Marine Dock, Edge of East Blue]

A group of Marine officers surround a boy in a long coat and black boots. The boy, now 17, grips a long steel staff in his hand. His blond hair flows slightly in the wind, and a pair of goggles rest on his head.

Marine Officer:

“Surrender, pirate! You’re under arrest!”

Sabo (calmly):

“I’m not a pirate. But I hate your kind.”

Suddenly, Sabo dashes forward, spinning his staff with immense speed. He strikes one officer in the gut, then leaps, swinging his staff mid-air and landing on another.

Marine A:

“Wha—he’s too fast!”

Marine B:

“Get him!!”

Sabo slides low, knocks two down, then flips over the third. His strikes are clean, strong, and precise. Within moments, all six officers are on the ground, groaning in pain.

Sabo walks over to one of their swords... hesitates... then turns away.

Sabo (softly):

“No. I have my own way.”

He walks back to his small wooden ship anchored nearby, "The Wind Soul", unties it, and sets sail.

[Scene – East Blue, Mid-Sailing]

Sabo stands alone on the deck, wind in his hair, his eyes thoughtful.

Sabo (thinking):

“Ace and Kai... I wonder how far you’ve come.”

Suddenly, the sea trembles.

A massive shadow rises from the water—a giant, scaled serpent with tusks bursts from below, roaring loudly.

Name: Lord Gorrox – Sea Monster of the East.

Sabo grabs his staff and rushes to the front of his ship.

Sabo:

“Of course. A peaceful day was too much to ask.”

The monster moves on—toward a distant island. Sabo grabs his spyglass and spots a small coastal village.

Village Name: Dagara Village – known for peaceful fishing and bamboo crafting.

Sabo (gritting his teeth):

“They won’t survive that thing...!”

He turns the ship toward the island, sails at full speed.

[Scene – Dagara Village]

Villagers scream and run as Lord Gorrox rampages. Boats are destroyed, homes crushed, and water floods the village square.

A little girl is about to be struck when—CRACK!

Sabo arrives, swinging his staff to smash the monster's lower jaw, forcing it back.

Villager:

“Who is that?!”

Sabo (firmly):

“Stay back! I’ve got this!”

Gorrox growls and lunges. Sabo dashes across rooftops, jumping and dodging.

He lands a direct staff hit to its left eye, blinding it temporarily.

The monster swipes, knocking Sabo across the village square. He rolls but quickly rises, bleeding from his lip.

Sabo:

“You think I came all this way to fall now?”

He slams his staff into the ground. The winds pick up.

Using bamboo poles and rooftops for speed, he launches himself into the air, flips, and comes down full force onto Gorrox’s skull.

Sabo (shouting):

“DRAGON STAFF STRIKE!!”

BOOM! – A massive blow explodes on impact. Gorrox collapses with a screech, defeated.

[Aftermath – Dagara Village]

Villagers cheer and rush to thank Sabo. The mayor walks up to him.

Mayor of Dagara:

“You saved us. What’s your name, warrior?”

Sabo (smiling softly):

“Just someone trying to make the world right.”

He boards his ship again, waving to the children who chase the waves.

As he sails away, the little girl he saved waves with tears in her eyes.

[Final Scene – Night at Sea]

Sabo sits alone again, looking up at the stars.

Sabo (thinking):

“Kai… Ace… someday we’ll meet again. I’ll be stronger by then.”

The wind blows gently, carrying his ship forward as the screen fades.
