Kaya stared through the glass window, at the swimming pool that was right outside the room, as she sipped on a glass of orange juice. Her hair was tied in a bun and she was wearing one of Caspian's shirts, since he had given her one.
Caspian has been very hospitable so she had no idea why Clover still refused to trust him. Maybe it was because Clover had such difficulty in giving out his trust, Kaya wasn't even sure if he trusted her but she honestly didn't know.
During her meal last night, Kaya learned a bit more about Caspian, him being the only child of a politician and also of him being a college student majoring in political science, although his passion was directed towards cooking and acting.
"Obligations are different from dreams."
Kaya remembered what Caspian told her during last night's conversation. "I guess you can't have them both."
"Yes, you can." Kaya had replied to Caspian. "It just takes a little balance."
She turned around when she heard the door slowly open. Caspian was peeking his head through the gap, his blue hair messy and his face a bit swollen, signalling that he had just woken up as well. His necklace, which enclosed the gem, was hanging from his neck, standing out because of it's silver colour.
"Good morning, Caspian." Kaya greeted as he stepped into the room, revealing his black turtleneck to her. Kaya blushed a bit and wondered how someone could look so good right after waking up.
"...Morning, Kaya." Caspian muttered with his raspy morning voice while scratching his head. For some reason, his words sounded forced. "Are you... Do you and Clover need something?"
"Nah, we're fine." she smiled as she faced the swimming pool once again and continued to drink. "So, you swim?"
Caspian walked towards her and was now standing beside her but he replied to her with silence. Kaya glanced at him and saw his serene expression, wondering he looked so lost.
"I don't, actually." he said after a while, his arms crossed. It was at that moment, Kaya noticed, whenever Caspian wasn't speaking, he had a permanent pout on his face because of his thick lips. "I never did. My mom does, though, which was why my father had this made. I.. well, I was forbidden to swim."
Kaya thought about it for a while and came to one conclusion. "Are you allergic to water?"
"...No." Caspian held the gem and stared at it with a blank expression. Kaya raised an eyebrow, wondering what he was thinking, "I kinda had a bad experience with water when I was younger."
Kaya nodded, completely understanding Caspian, since a similar reason has caused her to permanently fear clowns as well. She continued to drink, stopping after she realized that there was nothing left in her glass but ice. Caspian, on the other hand, had realized something while staring at her. What was he doing? He definitely didn't come to her room to chat. He nodded to himself, firmly deciding what was supposed to be done.
Kaya jumped when Caspian suddenly grabbed her arm, a bit taken a back by how tight his hold was. The expression he had was completely opposite of what he had a few moments ago and Kaya was a bit... terrified by it. Before she could say anything, Caspian forcefully dragged her to the door, making her drop her glass, which shattered as it hit the tiled floor.
"H-Hey, Caspian, what are you doing?!" Kaya hissed and tried pulling back her arm but he was just too strong. She honestly thought he wasn't because of how skinny he was so she was surprised by his strength. "Let go!"
Caspian just glared at her as he continued to drag her down the hallway. After struggling for a while, he finally resorted to picking her up like a sack and she continued to thrash around but to no avail. Then, he stopped in front of a door.
Clover's room?
Swiftly, Caspian opened the door and threw her to the floor, which made her groan in pain since she landed hip first.
"Caspian, what--"
Caspian slammed the door on her face before she could finish, then she heard multiple clicks. Her eyes widened after she realized that he was locking both her and Clover in.
"H-Hey! Let us out! Caspian!"
Clover, who was asleep the entire time, woke up when he heard Kaya banging her fists on the door. He grumpily rolled on the bed like a worm, completely concealed under the sheets. He popped out his head like a mole and frowned. "Cow, what are you doing here? At this time in the morning too."
"Dammit, Clove!" Kaya snapped, angry because of how much she trusted Caspian, just for it to end up this way. "Caspian locked us in!"
Clover blinked before he yawned. "Don't you have a key?"
"Clover, damn it, wake up!" Clover blinked and stared at her blankly for a solid minute, before he finally took in what she said. He fell from the bed and walked towards her slowly, since his leg still hurt.
"What did I tell you?" Clover glared as he squatted next to her, both his hands on his nape. He cocked his head to the side a bit, making his bangs sway to the side. "Don't trust Caspian!"
Kaya gritted her teeth as she thought that all those things Caspian did was just for show. What could he be up to? Kaya wished that she had listened to Clover and never trusted him.
"Whatever." she stopped banging on the door, since her fists started to hurt. "Just get us out of here."
"Gladly." Clover grinned, his eyes flashing red, just like his gem. He spread out his palm, a fireball appearing and floating in midair. "Stand back."
...Meanwhile,...
"Sir, what are you doing?"
Caspian was currently searching through his closet, looking for his iPhone. Clothes flew as he tossed them, frustrated because he couldn't remember where he had placed his cellphone.
"Sam, what are you doing here?" Caspian nearly tripped on a pile of socks. "I told you to stay by the door and make sure that Clover and Kaya won't escape."
"...Sir, why are you doing this?" Sam asked as he dodged a shirt that was unintentionally tossed at him.
"They're fugitives, Sam!" Caspian sighed in relief when he found his phone, which was under a stack of pants for some odd reason. He typed in his password as he looked for the police station's number. "Someone like me can't have criminals in their house. You agree, right?"
"No offense, sir but I think you're making a very stupid decision." Sam said with a bright smile on his face. Caspian turned around with a raised eyebrow, slightly triggered by how his own butler called him stupid. Despite that, he continued to look for the desired number.
"You took them in because they reminded you of Leo and Theo, right?" Caspian froze, just as he was about to press the call button. Sam just stared at him with an innocent smile, knowing that he had hit the boy's sore spot.
"Sir, you can't keep pushing away other people. Everyone needs friends, not even the richest man in the world can buy the love you earn from friendships."
"I have you, mom and dad." Caspian said calmly, his back facing Sam, although his teeth were gritted. "I don't need friends. They've always been a nuisance. Theo was always against my decisions and Leo--"
"Then why did you save Clover and Kaya?"
Caspian went silent and clicked his tongue, knowing that he was at a checkmate. He decided to ignore Sam and pressed the call button. He held the phone to his ear as he tapped his foot and listened to the strange ringtone.
"Damn it!" Caspian whispered before dialing again, since he got voice mail. "What kind of police-"
"Clover is a very reserved person. He doesn't speak that much and always doubts everything. Kind of reminded you of Theo, didn't he?"
