Kaya knew that the plan was working, since the gunfire became more silent compared to before. Kaya stared at the wall of fire behind her and smirked. Clover was smart, which honestly wasn't what she expected from him.
"Are you sure about this?" Kaya asked with worry, realizing that there was a possibility that Clover would get shot.
"I'm not." Clover said slowly.
"What's our Plan B?"
"Our what?"
"Oh my god, we're definitely gonna die!"
Kaya stayed silent as she listened to her surroundings. After she became a guardian, her senses sharpened. She could hear the crackling of Clover's flames, the panic screams from the civilians and the orders that the policemen were throwing at each other. Kaya did her best to listen closely to the policemen and she was able to make out one sentence.
"Aim for the legs!"
"Clo-"
Too late. Clover was shot right below the knee, causing him to shriek in pain and lose his balance on the skateboard, the flames disappearing as he did. The two of them rolled on the ground for a while before stopping right at the edge of a lake, almost falling in. Kaya grunted a bit and felt her cheek sting, knowing that she had a scratch. She crawled towards Clover, who was about a foot away from her and was clutching his leg pain.
"Clove!" Kaya inspected his wound a bit and winced a bit at the amount of blood. She had no experience when it came to first aid so she pulled her own hair in frustration. "Uh, damn it, just put pressure on it, okay?"
"Freeze!"
The policemen were now surrounding them both, guns pointed at the two of them from all directions. Kaya gritted her teeth, trying to think of a way to escape. The last thing she wanted was her and Clover going to jail. Clover slowly raised his arms, which made Kaya side-eye him.
"What are you doing?"
"Just follow me, Kaya." Clover said and Kaya noticed that his eyes were still bright red. Kaya smiled a bit when he finally got her name right and raised both of her arms with him. Right when the policemen put down their weapons, flames came out of Clover's palms, creating yet another wall of fire. There were screams from the other side, both from the civilians and the policemen.
Kaya remembered the lake behind her, a lightbulb sparking above her head. She looked at Clover and pointed at it.
"We have to jump! It's the only way out."
Clover clutched Kaya's arm, his eyes back to normal and lightly shook his head at Kaya. "...I'm not good with water."
"What do you mean? Because of your gem?"
"I never learned how to swim."
Kaya couldn't believe what she just heard. Obviously, Clover not knowing how to swim was connected to him being the bearer of the fire gem but the current circumstances just ticked her off. Although, Clover wasn't to blame. Just when she decided to surrender, there was the sound of an engine, then something pierced through the flames and glided in front of her and Clover. She coughed a bit because of the smoke and opened her eyes, which widened after she realized what was in front of her.
There was a boy on a jet black motorcycle. He was wearing an expensive looking leather jacket paired with tight leather pants, his face partly covered by his white face mask and helmet. Kaya could only see his doe eyes and the tips of his bright blue bangs.
"Hop on!" The boy cocked his head towards the empty space behind him, his voice soft compared to Clover's. Kaya glanced at Clover, silently asking for his approval. Once he nodded, she helped him up and sat behind the man. She wasn't sure about the stranger and why he was doing this but it was the only way to get out of the current situation they both were in.
"Hold on tight." The boy started the engine and drove off, leaving behind the policemen and the wall of fire. They were a bit taken aback by how fast the motorcycle was but they were glad that nobody was going to jail. Since Clover was at risk of falling off because of his injured leg, he sat in between Kaya and the man. Although, honestly, Clover wanted Kaya to take his place so she would be safer.
Kaya was a bit confused when the boy parked in front of a gate that was ten times taller than her, especially because she felt like the travelling time only lasted for a few minutes. Clover, in particular, had sparkling eyes as he stared at the golden gate.
The boy glanced at Kaya and Clover, silently ordering them both to stay where they are, before he stepped down and walked towards the gate. On the decorated stone pillar was a small boxed speaker, a red button on it's metal body.
After a few seconds of staring at the button, the boy unstrapped his helmet and pulled it off his head. He inhaled deeply after taking off his mask and Kaya's eyes widened at his features. She was right about the his blue hair. He had clear milky white skin, obviously pampered and had a pair of thick, pink lips. He looked familiar to Kaya for some reason and only one word could be used to describe him. Flawless. The boy ruffled his own hair and pressed the button.
"Sam, let us in."
"Welcome back, Master." A voice came from the speaker after a buzz. "Who are your companions?"
Kaya noticed that Clover was staring at something above, so she followed his gaze. At the top right corner of the gate was a camera, staring down at both her and Clover with intimidation. Kaya shivered at the thought of being watched.
"I told you not to call me Master, Sam." The boy glanced at the two of them, giving Kaya a better look at his face. He was definitely one of the most handsome men she had seen, compared to the potatoes in the orphanage.
"They're... visitors."
"...I understand, Master." Kaya swore that she heard a giggle from the speaker before it was shut off but she wasn't so sure herself. The boy chuckled, amused by how childish his butler was, before the gate slowly opened, it's loud metal clangs ringing throughout the area.
"Cow, your watch!" Clover managed to whisper to her before the boy hopped back on the motorcycle and ignited the engine once more. Kaya frowned a bit at being called Cow again, then she glanced at her watch, which was glowing and it wasn't because of Clover. She stared at the blue head in front of her, amazed by how she ran into another wonder almost instantly after finding Clover.
However, this confused her, since she didn't see any gem on the man. Was the watch malfunctioning? Or maybe the gem was just hidden? The motorcycle circled around a beautiful fountain in the middle of a garden before finally arriving in front of the mansion's main entrance. The lot was so big that looking around already made her dizzy. Even Clover looked a bit fazed by what he was seeing right now.
The boy walked towards the door, Kaya and Clover following him like ducklings. There was another person standing next to the entrance and he was wearing a butler's suit. He looked young, way too young to be a butler and his black hair wasn't even styled, as if he woke up from an afternoon nap.
"Welcome back, Master." The butler, who Kaya just recalled was Sam, said and bowed at the man. He, then turned towards Kaya and Clover and bowed as well. "Master's acquaintances."
Kaya bowed back awkwardly, Clover forced to follow her since she was helping him walk.
"Sam, take this young man to the infirmary." The boy said, the butler nodding before stepping towards them both. Kaya was amazed by how this man had an infirmary in his own house. "He seems to have an injured leg. Treat it well."
The butler politely asked Clover to come with him but the latter wouldn't let go of Kaya no matter what was said. Kaya raised an eyebrow at the scenario, feeling like a mother with an extremely clingy son.
"It will be fine, Clove." Kaya whispered at the said boy as he stared at Kaya with unsure eyes. "Trust me."
There was a silence before Clover nodded. He let go of Kaya as the butler assisted him. He glanced at her with an unreadable expression before he and butler disappeared through the door.
