Episode 9

Helena made her way home, where she paced back and forth in her room for hours, unable to react otherwise.

Helena decided to take a shower, standing under the water in an attempt to forget.

Helena: Forget this, Helena, what was that? You've never been like this, are you losing your mind? Yes, I must be going insane.

She talked to herself, posing questions and answering them, never considering going to the hospital. Mateo called her, but her mind was too scrambled to pick up and explain. Eventually, she lay down to rest her mind.

William spent his day in the garden, even eating lunch there, returning afterwards. Despite the beautiful day, he was preoccupied with a million thoughts.

He went to work to pass the time, and at bedtime, he messaged Helena.

💬"This gel is useless, Doctor. Are you sure you know about such things?"

Helena woke to the message notification. Rising quickly, his sarcasm evident.

Helena: I'm such an idiot for acting this way. What came over me? Focus, Helena.

💬 "You should try the pharmacy; they have a variety of gels. I hope you find one to your liking."

Helena wondered if she had been too blunt.

William replied to her message, offended by her sarcasm.

💬"Is that right, Doctor?"

💬"Good night, Mr. William."

💬"Do you always retire early, Doctor?"

💬"Yes, good night."

💬"Annoying Doctor."

Helena couldn't maintain her composure and smiled. She saved his number as "Mister Arrogant" and went downstairs for a bite. After dinner, she went back up to rest.

A month went by like this, with the physiotherapy going well and Helena acting professionally, avoiding any more rude exchanges.

William maintained his sarcastic and arrogant demeanor, which Helena no longer minded, understanding that he used it as a shield.

Mateo and Helena were doing fine, meeting occasionally to enjoy their time together.

Helena was at William's house for an afternoon work session, and during their physiotherapy, it began to rain heavily. She went over to the window and saw the bad weather unfolding.

William’s parents had gone out and, with the intense rain, weren't likely to return soon.

William: Take a seat; the rain won’t stop anytime soon.

Helena: We're already done for today.

Helena packed her things and sat on the couch waiting for the rain to subside. William left the room, and after a few minutes, he returned, freshly showered.

The housekeeper served hot chocolate as it was quite chilly. Helena accepted, and William asked for a blanket, which the housekeeper brought to him, and he then covered Helena.

Helena: That’s not necessary.

William: It's cold, no pretending it isn't.

Helena: Thank you.

William: Is it to your satisfaction?

Helena: Yes, thank you.

William turned on the TV, and they watched a reporter discuss the bad weather. Helena sighed deeply as William's parents called to inform him they weren’t able to make it home and would stay at a hotel.

Helena received a call and moved to the window to answer it.

📲Helena: Hello?

📲Mateo: Love, I won't make it to the apartment; you should stay put because it's pouring out there.

📲Helena: Don't worry, we can meet another day.

📲Mateo: Take care, beautiful. I miss you.

📲Helena: I miss you too. Are you at the hospital?

📲Mateo: Yes, couldn't leave.

📲Helena: Alright, stay safe.

📲Mateo: You too, kisses beautiful.

📲Helena: Kisses.

Helena ended the call and returned to the couch. William seemed serious, but that was nothing new, and they watched a movie.

William: Is everything okay?

Helena: Yes.

William: Is someone at the hospital?

Helena: Oh, it's nothing.

William: Is your family ill?

Helena: No, it was my... boyfriend.

William: You have a boyfriend?

Helena: I guess so.

William: Okay.

William left the living room, locking himself in his office, while Helena stayed, having nothing better to do. The housekeeper informed her that dinner was ready; Helena joined William at the table, where they ate in silence.

Afterward, Helena returned to the living room, checking the window again; it was still raining hard.

William: Doctor, it's not going to stop raining. I suggest you stay here.

Helena: What? I can't.

William: Is your boyfriend going to be jealous, Doctor?

Helena: It’s not that.

William: Then what is it? You prefer to leave in this rain? You won't make it.

Helena: Okay, since there’s no other option, could I borrow an umbrella?

William: Lilian?

\Lilian (housekeeper): Yes?

William: Get an umbrella for the Doctor.

She retrieved it, and Helena went to her car parked in front of the house, returning with a backpack, soaked despite the umbrella's shelter.

Helena: May I take a shower?

William: Of course, Lilian, show her to the guest room.

Lilian: Please, follow me.

Helena followed the housekeeper to the guest room, took a shower, and then descended to the living room, where William was still present. She sat on the sofa, covering herself with the blanket.

William: Would you like anything?

Helena: No, thank you

William: How long have you been dating?

Helena: Let's not talk about it.

William: You don’t like him.

Helena: Excuse me?

William: Why stay with him?

Helena: I don't understand... rises and walks to the window.

William: Are you upset, Doctor?

Helena: Why are you saying that?

William: You don't sparkle when you talk about him; I assumed.

Helena: What do you know about liking someone? You're arrogant, never treat anyone well, and you don’t even like....
