Chapter 6 - Start Of Training
He lead me to a clearing and immediately took my sword from me.
Aluna Yan
H-Hey! What are you doing-
Li Wei
I've got to assess your expertise. Leave the sword, you don't need it.
I watched as he threw it onto the ground. He then leaned against a tree trunk, looking at me.
Li Wei
Close your eyes and feel your surroundings.
He wants me to do what? No matter how weird this is, I can't disobey him.
I closed my eyes and after a while, I could hear everything.
Every rustle of a leaf, every thundering clap of a branch snapping...
I got lost in it, the beauty of nature at its finest...
As I began to smile, Li looked at me intently.
Li Wei
What can you sense?
Aluna Yan
The leaves moving... the sounds of branch snapping... the sound of birds squawking...
I could even feel the wind against my face...
Li Wei
You have an adept range of auditory capability.
Li Wei
Perhaps training you to be a hunter would be better...
Aluna Yan
Wait, no! I want to become strong, just like you!
He smiled and I soon realised that he was joking.
My cheeks turned a bright pink as I turned away and snatched up my sword.
Aluna Yan
You're just teasing me now.
Suddenly, I heard voices from the direction of the cave.
Aluna Yan
W-Who are those-
Then, Li Wei ran towards me and threw me over his shoulder as he sprinted through the forest.
Branches slashed against my cheeks and head while he ran.
Gosh... Royal hunters? Experts trained to hunt down the most notorious assassins. Why are they after Li Wei?
I mean, he is an assassin but if they are after him, he must be good. Very good.
As we ran through the brambles and the trees, I held tightly onto him, scared that he was going to drop me.
But somehow, I felt safe in his arms. Like nothing could happen to me as long as I was with him.
He then suddenly stopped and we both ducked under a dirt mound as two guards walked onto it, peering over.
The men immediately mobilised and left us a few space to run away.
Our horse was gone, but at least I still had my sword and he still had all of his belongings in a rucksack.
He kept on picking me up as he flew through the forest like he had wings.
Eventually, it became midday and I was starting to get hungry.
As if he could sense my discomfort, he stopped and set me down onto a rock.
Li Wei
I've scattered my traces around the forest. They'll never be able to find us here. Stay here and wait until I come back.
And just like that, he left me between two large rocks.
Where was he going? Was he going to come back at all?
I curled myself up in a ball and patiently waited... and waited...
It started to turn dark and I was scared.
