Chapter 15 - Avoidance
Li's head shot around as he saw me walked towards them, hiding behind a pillar.
His heart started to beat again. The feeling of last night returned, even more powerful than before.
Lu Aotian
Come on out, Aluna. She looks beautiful, does she not?
I blushed as I came out wearing my new clothes. Immediately, everything stopped in Li's mind. He couldn't see anything but me.
Lu Aotian
Say something, Li. You're leaving the young lady in suspense.
Lu Aotian
I think that she's rather catching in that dress. Mind if I borrow her for-
That was all the prompt Li needed to walk over towards me and bring me into his arms.
I've never seen a snarl that horrific on his face before.
Li Wei
Stay away from her.
Each word seethed through his teeth but I felt his warm arms again.
I blushed, my heart beating faster and faster.
He then grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards him as we walked away.
Lu Aotian
Your mission brief is at the guild front desk. Make sure you pick it up before you leave.
Li Wei
Don't worry. We're leaving as soon as we can.
He then dragged me away from Lu Aotian.
He was walking fast and I had trouble keeping up.
He suddenly froze when I winced and his eyes found my ankle.
Aluna Yan
N-No, it's fine-
He then lifted me into his arms, making me yelp.
Aluna Yan
W-What are you doing?
Aluna Yan
But I can still walk, you know.
I held onto him as he carried me around the tea house. It was so embarrassing and I couldn't help but hide my face in his chest when he past by people.
Eventually, we reached a counter where a man looked up at Li and gave him a scroll.
Li Wei
My payment for the last job, please.
Guild Manager
Four days overdue will bring your reward down to 25 gold coins from the original 75 gold coins.
Hold on, that's than a half! He did kill on time but I guess that he didn't get back in time.
It was all because of me.
I clenched my fists in his fabric, feeling a little guilty.
Li took the money and the scroll and proceeded to leave the building.
On the way out, I frowned sadly.
Aluna Yan
It's my fault that you didn't get all of the reward money... I'm the one who made you late. If you hadn't have gotten hurt-
Li Wei
That's my problem, not yours.
His words were so harsh... but his touch was warm and soothing to me.
Arriving into a private room in the teahouse, Li sat me down as he took a knife and broke the wax seal of the scroll.
I sat there as I watched him read the contents.
Aluna Yan
Is it a good job?
Li Wei
No... it's quite difficult and hard but the reward money is... substantial.
Li Wei
They're asking me to kill the Prime Minister's son, Huan Dongli.
Misty Plume
