Chapter 19 - On The Road
I sat on my own horse while Li tried to teach me how to ride.
Li Wei
Okay, now go into a trot just like that.
Of course, I was a fast learner and soon, my horse riding was better than before.
Aluna Yan
There! See, I'm a fast learner! I told you so!
I started to ride a little faster and sure enough, he kept to my side.
I turned my head to see his expression and I was shocked when I found him smiling in front of me.
My heart fluttered again, my eyes glued onto his. Our horses slowly became closer to one another and so did our faces.
I wanted to hug him, I wanted to feel close to him...
He went and touched my chin, making sparks run across my face, warming up my cheeks.
Just as he went to lean towards my face even more, our horses became unruly when a pack of wild boars past right in front of us.
Li was quick to put my horse under control but was quick to look around.
Li Wei
They wouldn't be spooked by nothing...
He then quickly jumped off of his horse and picked me off of mine. He took out his sword and put his arm around me, pointing it right at the forest in front of us.
Li Wei
Bandits... I knew that they inhabited this road.
I remained in his arms, feeling safe. Soon enough, they arrived, many in numbers.
Li Wei
Stay behind me and don't engage with them.
He took out his sword, standing in front of me as the men appeared from behind the trees, chuckling at him.
Bandit
Hand all your valuables and your woman over to me. They are ours now.
Li Wei
You're only right about one thing...
In a flash, he had lept off of the ground and had his blade heading straight for the man.
He didn't have time to dodge. The blade connected with his chest, letting him leave the face of this Earth forever.
The other bandits were terrified but knew that they already took a step too far. They needed to fight.
They ran at Li, and that was their first mistake. Like a dance, Li elegantly swiped his blade in exactly the right places.
Blood splattered the floor as he jumped over the bandit's heads and massacred them all.
I could have sworn that a glimmer of red shone out of his eyes when he killed.
While I watched him, I heard an unusual rustle from behind me.
I took the sword out from my back and turned around, putting my sword in a blocking motion. Just as I did, a man jumped from a tree and hit my blade in an attempt for my life.
I kicked him right in the knee as he landed, making him fall to his knees and drop-kicked him to the floor.
I took the cloth off of my sword and pointed the tip at his neck.
Aluna Yan
I will have no mercy on you. I hope that you have better luck in your next life.
And just like that, I made one decisive cut that rendered him dead instantly.
Li looked at me, at the precise angle at which I had cut him at the neck.
All of those qualities... all of that knowledge... it was as if I was trained to become an assassin.
