Evelina’s POV
The door shut behind me, sealing me inside Cassian’s world.
I should have been afraid.
Maybe a part of me was.
But mostly, I was just tired.
Tired of the lies. Tired of pretending my father was a good man. Tired of fighting against the truth when it had been staring me in the face all along.
Cassian didn’t speak. He simply watched me, his dark eyes assessing, waiting.
Waiting for me to break.
But I wouldn’t.
Not now.
I met his gaze, lifting my chin. “I want to know everything.”
Something flickered across his face—something unreadable.
“Everything?” His voice was quiet, but there was an edge to it.
I nodded. “No more half-truths. No more games.” I swallowed hard. “Tell me what really happened to your family.”
Cassian exhaled slowly, stepping closer. He was so close I could feel the warmth of his body, the controlled tension in his frame.
“You’re sure you want to hear it, dolcezza?” he murmured. “Because once you do, there’s no turning back.”
I held my ground. “I already turned my back on my father. So tell me—who am I fighting for now?”
His gaze darkened, something dangerous curling at the corners of his lips.
“Sit down,” he said.
I did.
And then he told me everything.

Cassian’s POV
I watched her carefully as I spoke.
I told her about the night my world ended. How my father had trusted the wrong people. How our enemies had come like shadows in the night, cutting down my family before they even had a chance to fight back.
I told her how I had hidden in the closet, my mother’s blood soaking into my skin, her last words nothing more than a broken whisper.
"Run, Cassian. Don’t let them find you."
I had run.
And I had survived.
For this.
For revenge.
For her father’s sins.
Evelina didn’t move as I spoke. She barely even blinked.
But when I was done, she looked at me with something I hadn’t expected.
Not pity.
Not fear.
But anger.
Raw, burning anger.
“He let them die,” she whispered. Her fingers curled into fists. “He knew, and he let them die.”
I leaned forward, watching her carefully. “Yes.”
She inhaled shakily, like she was trying to hold herself together.
And then—
“I’ll help you.”
The words stunned me.
I narrowed my eyes. “Careful, dolcezza. You don’t know what you’re offering.”
She met my gaze without hesitation. “I do.”
Something sharp twisted in my chest.
She had just walked away from the only family she had ever known.
And now—
She was choosing me.
I didn’t trust it.
Didn’t trust her.
But damn it—
I wanted to.
“Then let’s make a deal,” I murmured.
Her breath hitched. “What kind of deal?”
I leaned in, brushing my fingers beneath her chin, tilting her face up to mine.
“You’re mine now, Evelina.” My voice was quiet, but it burned between us. “No more running. No more pretending.”
Her pulse fluttered beneath my touch.
“I’m not afraid of you, Cassian.”
I smirked. “You should be.”
She didn’t look away.
And for the first time, I knew—
She wasn’t my enemy anymore.
She was my greatest weapon.
