As they sat on the bench, Jungkook traced patterns on Taehyung’s palm
JUNGKOOK
When I was a kid, I used to think no one would ever love me
TAEHYUNG
(Grip tightened) Jungkook—
JUNGKOOK
(Smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes) My uncle only keeps me around because of my money. Everyone else just… wanted something.
TAEHYUNG
(Chest ached) I don’t want anything from you
JUNGKOOK
(Hesitated) I know
And for the first time in his life, he actually believed it
Jungkook had never known what love felt like
Not the kind that made your chest ache in the best way
Not the kind that made you feel safe and terrified all at once
Jungkook was in love with Taehyung
And it scared him more than anything
Taehyung had been acting suspicious
Jungkook knew it the moment Taehyung started sneaking around
JUNGKOOK
Are you hiding something from me
TAEHYUNG
(Chuckled, pulling him into his arms) Be patient, love
It wasn’t the first time Taehyung had said it
But now, it felt different
Because now, Jungkook wanted to say it back
Taehyung’s surprise turned out to be a private piano room
Candles. Soft lights. A grand piano waiting in the center
JUNGKOOK
(Fingers trembled as he touched the keys) You did this for me?
TAEHYUNG
(Leaned against the piano, watching him) I’d do anything for you
JUNGKOOK
(Throat tightened)
Slowly, he started to play
The melody was soft, filled with emotions he couldn’t say out loud
TAEHYUNG
(Eyes never leaving Jungkook’s face)
JUNGKOOK
I’m scared, Taehyung
JUNGKOOK
(Exhaled shakily) Of loving you
TAEHYUNG
(Breath hitched)Jungkook—
JUNGKOOK
(Fingers stilled on the piano) I don’t know how to do this. But I… I think I love you.
TAEHYUNG
(Swallowed hard) Then let me love you back
JUNGKOOK
(Turned to face him) What if I mess this up?
TAEHYUNG
(Stepped closer, tilting Jungkook’s chin up) Then we figure it out. Together
TAEHYUNG
(Kissed Jungkook)
And this time—Jungkook wasn’t scared anymore
