Chapter 11: My Ex Won’t Leave Me Alone?!
After the disastrous morning, I had one goal: avoid my mysterious ex at all costs.
But the universe? Oh no, it had other plans.
Because the moment I stepped out of class, someone slammed an arm against the wall next to me.
BAM!
I turned slowly.
Yep. It was her.
My so-called ex-girlfriend.
She grinned. "Yo, babe."
I took a step back. "NOPE. NOT THIS. NOT TODAY."
She laughed. "Still dramatic, huh? You haven’t changed at all."
I HAVE NO MEMORY OF YOU, WOMAN!
I cleared my throat. "Uh… listen. I don’t know what kind of relationship we had, but I, uh… I’ve changed. A lot. I don’t remember anything about the past, so…"
She blinked. "Oh, I know."
I froze. "Wait, what?"
She smirked. "Emily told me."
I turned to betrayer number one.
Emily waved innocently from a distance. "Oopsie~!"
YOU ARE NOT "OOPSIE"-ING YOUR WAY OUT OF THIS, EMILY!
I sighed. "Okay. So… if you know, then why are you still calling me ‘babe’?"
She shrugged. "Force of habit."
I stared at her. "That’s… not a good excuse?"
She grinned. "Come on, Lilian. You and I had something special. You really don’t feel anything when you look at me?"
I stared at her… and forced myself to think.
…
Nope. Nothing.
Just mild panic and a desperate desire to escape.
"Sorry," I said. "I got nothing."
She pouted. "Ouch. That hurts, babe."
I took a deep breath. "Look, I’m not trying to be mean, but—"
"—but you have a ‘girlfriend’ now?" she finished for me.
I winced. "Yeah…"
She chuckled. "That’s cute."
I blinked. "Uh. What?"
She leaned in slightly. "I said, that’s cute. You and Selena. Adorable, really."
…
WHY DOES THIS SOUND SO FAKE?!
I narrowed my eyes. "You’re… not mad?"
She smiled. "Oh, I’m not mad. But, Lilian…"
She reached out—and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.
DANGER. WARNING. RED ALERT.
She whispered, "Don’t think for a second that I’m giving up."
I NEARLY DIED.
Selena is Going to Kill Someone
I barely survived that encounter.
I RAN to lunch, found Selena, and sat beside her like my life depended on it.
She raised an eyebrow. "Something wrong?"
I took a deep breath. "Selena. Important question."
She put down her drink. "Go on."
I stared into her soul.
"How against murder are you?"
Selena blinked. Then she smirked. "Oh? Do you need someone taken care of?"
WHY DOES SHE SOUND SO SERIOUS?!
I laughed nervously. "W-Well, let’s say my ex is being… persistent."
Her expression immediately darkened.
"Persistent?" she repeated.
I gulped. "Yeah?"
Selena smiled. It was NOT a nice smile.
"I see," she said smoothly. "I’ll handle it."
WAIT WAIT WAIT—
"NO MURDER!" I yelped, grabbing her arm.
She tilted her head. "I wasn’t going to murder her."
I sighed in relief. "Oh, good—"
"I was just going to… make sure she understands her place," Selena added.
…
WHY DOES THAT SOUND EVEN SCARIER?!
Emily cackled. "Lilian, your life is a soap opera, and I love it!"
EMILY, STOP ENJOYING THIS!
I buried my face in my hands.
This is it. I’m doomed.
