I froze. "My what now?"
Emily shook me. "Your ex-girlfriend! She’s back!"
I grabbed her hands. "WHEN DID I HAVE ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE?!"
Emily blinked. "Oh… right. You don’t remember. But yeah, you and Selena weren’t always together! You used to date someone else before her!"
I felt faint.
"WHYYYY IS MY LIFE LIKE THIS?!" I wailed, grabbing my head.
Emily completely ignored my suffering. "Anyway, she just transferred back, and people are already talking! Apparently, she still has feelings for you!"
OF COURSE SHE DOES. BECAUSE MY LIFE CAN’T BE NORMAL.
I took a deep breath. "Okay. Who is she? Maybe I can just… avoid her forever."
Emily winced. "Uh… yeah, about that…"
Before I could demand an answer, the classroom door swung open.
And in she walked.
A tall, gorgeous girl with fiery red hair and piercing green eyes. Her expression? Smug. Very, very smug.
The moment she saw me, she smirked.
"Hey there, babe," she drawled. "Miss me?"
I ALMOST DIED ON THE SPOT.
Selena vs. Ex-Girlfriend: Round 1?!
The room fell silent.
I wanted to scream.
Why?
BECAUSE SELENA WAS STANDING RIGHT BEHIND ME.
I turned my head very, very slowly.
Yep. She was there.
Expression? Dark. Eyes cold as ice. Dangerous aura activated.
I gulped. "Selena…?"
She didn’t even glance at me. She was staring directly at the red-haired girl like she was about to commit murder.
The red-haired girl—who I still didn’t know the name of—just grinned wider.
"Aww, you’re still here too, huh?" she said, looking Selena up and down. "Figures. You always were clingy."
OH. MY. GOD.
SHE’S TRYING TO DIE.
Selena smiled. But it was NOT a nice smile.
"And you always were annoying," she said coolly. "I see nothing’s changed."
Tension. SO MUCH TENSION.
Emily whispered next to me. "Oooh, the drama! I need popcorn!"
I turned to her in panic. "STOP ENJOYING THIS!"
Meanwhile, my ex-girlfriend just laughed.
"Relax, Selena," she said lazily. "I’m not here to steal Lilian back."
Selena’s eyes narrowed. "Good. Because that would be impossible."
…
WHY DID THAT SOUND SO FINAL?!
The red-haired girl chuckled. "We’ll see about that."
Then she winked at me—AT ME—before walking off like she didn’t just drop a nuclear bomb into my life.
I collapsed onto my desk. "I hate everything."
Emily patted my back. "Cheer up! At least you’re popular!"
THAT’S NOT HELPING.
Selena, still standing beside me, crossed her arms. "Don’t talk to her."
I groaned. "Can I please have a normal life?"
Selena smirked. "No."
I AM GOING TO DIE.
