Episode 08
The town hall was buzzing with laughter, music, and the occasional loud exclamation of “Wow, that’s hideous!” as residents mingled in their most outrageous Christmas sweaters.
Jungkook stood near the snack table, a soft smile on his lips as he watched the festive chaos unfold. His own sweater was a bright red mess of glitter, pom-poms, and a cartoon snowman that blinked with tiny LED lights.
Jeon Jungkook
Only for the sake of the Christmas spirit.
Jungkook muttered to himself, adjusting the hem of the sweater.
His friends were scattered across the hall. Jimin and Yoongi were busy arguing over who had the uglier sweater, while Namjoon and Jin were in a corner, laughing at everyone else’s attempts. Hoseok was practically glowing in a sweater so bright it could probably guide Santa’s sleigh.
Jungkook took a sip of his hot chocolate, his eyes scanning the crowd absently. That’s when he saw him.
Taehyung walked in, exuding his usual confidence but this time, he wasn’t wearing his usual sophisticated attire. Instead, he donned a sweater that made Jungkook’s heart skip a beat. It was green and orange, with sparkly accents, and plastered across the front was Jungkook’s favorite cartoon character: “Tata the Alien Bunny.”
Jungkook blinked, his mouth parting slightly in surprise.

Did Taehyung… plan this?
Taehyung seemed to notice Jungkook’s gaze almost immediately. His lips curved into a smirk as he made his way across the room, weaving through the crowd with effortless grace. When he finally reached Jungkook, he stopped and held his arms out as if to say, Well?
Kim Taehyung
What do you think, bunny?
Taehyung asked, his voice teasing.
Kim Taehyung
Do I look festive enough?
Jungkook stared at him for a moment, trying to fight the smile threatening to break across his face.
Jeon Jungkook
You… look ridiculous.
he said, though his tone lacked any real bite.
Kim Taehyung
Ridiculously good?
Taehyung quipped, winking.
Jungkook rolled his eyes but couldn’t stop the small laugh that escaped him.
Jeon Jungkook
Why are you wearing that sweater?
Taehyung shrugged, but the glint in his eyes told Jungkook there was more to it.
Kim Taehyung
LI figured if I’m going to wear something ugly, it might as well be something that makes you smile.
Jungkook’s cheeks flushed a light pink, and he quickly looked away, pretending to be interested in the snack table.
Jeon Jungkook
Don’t flatter yourself.
Taehyung chuckled, leaning slightly closer.
Kim Taehyung
Too late for that, bunny. But seriously, do you like it?
Jungkook hesitated before giving a small nod.
Kim Taehyung
Just like you.
Taehyung added smoothly, earning an adorable pout from Jungkook.
As the night went on, the two ended up sticking together, much to Jungkook’s surprise. Taehyung followed him around like an overly confident shadow, helping him judge the sweater contest (“That one looks like a crime scene,” Taehyung whispered, making Jungkook giggle) and even joining him in a dance-off hosted by Namjoon.
During the dance-off, Taehyung purposely danced as clumsily as possible, flailing his arms and doing exaggerated moves that left Jungkook laughing so hard he nearly cried.
Jeon Jungkook
You’re terrible!
Jungkook exclaimed, clutching his sides.
Kim Taehyung
Hey, I’m just embracing the ugly sweater spirit.
Taehyung replied, pretending to trip over his own feet.
By the end of the party, Jungkook felt lighter than he had in weeks. As the two stood outside the town hall, saying their goodbyes, Jungkook found himself glancing at Taehyung’s sweater again.
Jeon Jungkook
You didn’t have to wear that, you know.
Jungkook said softly, kicking at the snow beneath his feet.
Taehyung tilted his head, his expression softening.
Kim Taehyung
I know. But I wanted to.
Jungkook met his gaze, and for a moment, he felt that same warmth he’d felt during the Christmas lights mishap. Taehyung’s teasing smirk was gone, replaced by something more genuine.
Jungkook said quietly, his lips curling into a shy smile.
Kim Taehyung
Anytime, Bunny.
As Taehyung turned to leave, Jungkook found himself staring after him, his heart fluttering in a way he wasn’t quite ready to admit.
