My Shy Little Omega! (Taekook)
Episode 11
The evening was unusually warm for a fall night, the soft glow of candlelight flickering against the walls of Taehyung’s family estate.
Dressed in a light peach sweater and white jeans, Jungkook looked every bit the delicate, adorable omega he was. His cheeks were flushed pink as the spotlight seemed to be firmly on him. Taehyung, sitting tall and composed beside him, kept a protective hand resting on Jungkook’s chair, his sharp eyes scanning the room, ready to step in if things became too much.
The large, elegant dining room was filled with the clatter of utensils, the low hum of conversation, and the sweet scent of roasted meats and fresh vegetables.
It was the kind of family dinner that always felt too grand to be casual — the type of gathering where everyone wore their best smiles and the best china, where the atmosphere was warm, but everyone kept a certain distance in the way they carried themselves.
This dinner was particularly special because Jungkook, still getting used to the idea of his upcoming marriage to Taehyung, was meeting Taehyung’s extended family for the first time.
His parents had introduced him to Taehyung’s immediate family — his parents and siblings — a few months back, but tonight, it was the cousins, aunts, uncles, and distant relatives who had come to offer their congratulations, as well as their overwhelming attention.
Jungkook sat beside Taehyung, his fingers fiddling nervously with the hem of his napkin, his eyes darting around at all the unfamiliar faces.
He could feel the weight of their gaze on him, the polite yet intense curiosity, as they whispered among themselves, probably wondering if the youngest member of their family would measure up to their expectations.
Jungkook wasn’t used to this kind of attention. Back home, he was always surrounded by his loving parents and siblings, where he felt safe and relaxed, but here, in this sea of unfamiliar people, he couldn’t shake the feeling of being too small, too fragile, too shy.
Taehyung, ever observant, noticed how Jungkook’s shoulders were tense, how his lips were pursed, and how his hands were trembling slightly as he tried to keep his composure.
Jungkook was naturally bubbly and talkative, but in this moment, he was quiet — shy even — and it didn’t escape Taehyung’s notice.
His fiancé was overwhelmed, and he could see the small hints of anxiety in the way Jungkook would look down at his plate or fidget with his hands.
Kim Taehyung (Alpha)
Are you okay, Kookie? (Taehyung’s voice was soft, his gaze lingering on Jungkook’s face as he lowered his voice so only the younger man could hear)
His tone was gentle, trying to offer comfort without drawing too much attention.
Jungkook blinked, his heart skipping at the sound of his nickname. He tried to smile, but it came out more like a nervous grimace.
Jeon Jungkook (Omega)
I’m fine, Tae… It’s just… a lot, you know? (He glanced around, his eyes wide)
Jeon Jungkook (Omega)
So many people.
Taehyung gave him an understanding nod.
Kim Taehyung (Alpha)
I know. My family can be a bit much, but you don’t have to worry. I’m right here. (He gave Jungkook’s hand a reassuring squeeze beneath the table)
Jungkook smiled faintly, the small gesture offering him a tiny bit of comfort.
He took a deep breath, trying to focus on the conversation around him, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that everyone’s eyes were still on him.
As dinner progressed, Taehyung’s relatives made small talk with Jungkook, asking him questions about his college life, his hobbies, and his family. While Jungkook tried his best to answer, his nervousness made it difficult for him to engage fully. He would stutter when he spoke, his cheeks flushed a bright pink, and his eyes would quickly dart to Taehyung whenever he needed reassurance.
Taehyung, ever the calm and composed one, would catch his eye and offer him a smile or a gentle pat on the back whenever the conversation seemed to overwhelm Jungkook.
By the time dessert was served, Jungkook had nearly finished his meal, but the nerves still hadn’t quite worn off.
He could tell Taehyung’s family meant well, but it was hard for him to relax completely in such a formal setting. He was used to being in a cozy space with his family, not a large, imposing mansion surrounded by people who seemed to be sizing him up.
Taehyung noticed that Jungkook was growing more quiet with each passing moment, his hands still fidgeting under the table.
Without saying a word, Taehyung gently nudged Jungkook’s leg beneath the table, making the younger man look up. Taehyung’s eyes were warm, full of quiet affection, and there was something in his gaze that made Jungkook’s heart flutter.
Kim Taehyung (Alpha)
Hey, we can leave whenever you want, okay? I can tell it’s a lot, and I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable. (Taehyung said, his voice low but firm)
Jungkook’s breath caught, and for a moment, he was speechless. The way Taehyung always seemed to notice his feelings, always knowing what he needed without even asking, made Jungkook feel so cared for.
Jeon Jungkook (Omega)
Are you sure? (Jungkook whispered, glancing around at the table)
Jeon Jungkook (Omega)
I don’t want to ruin anything.
Taehyung smiled softly, his eyes full of understanding.
Kim Taehyung (Alpha)
You could never ruin anything, Kookie. You’re my fiancé, and if you’re uncomfortable, we go. It’s as simple as that.
Jungkook felt his heart swell at the sincerity in Taehyung’s words. For all the formality and grandeur of the evening, Taehyung’s kindness was the one thing that made him feel like everything was going to be okay.
After a moment’s thought, Jungkook nodded.
Jeon Jungkook (Omega)
That's Fi--
