"What do you do for a living?" Daisy was interrogating her son-in-law. She sat on the single sofa with her arms crossed, staring at Zayn with a scrutinizing gaze.
Zayn, sitting next to Shea, felt fearful, gripping his fingers as he kept his head down. "I used to be a waiter, Auntie, but now I'm unemployed," he replied candidly.
Shea slapped her forehead, no wonder Zayn was compatible with Kai. Both men always spoke the undeniable truths. Zayn could have lied to be favored by Daisy, yet he chose to reveal his reality. He had quit his previous job.
"Unemployed, huh? What will my daughter eat if you're jobless? Stones? That's impossible," Daisy remarked sarcastically.
"Well, Auntie, you already know that. Why ask?" Zayn retorted, causing Shea to widen her eyes.
"Zayn!" Shea whispered, playfully pinching the man's stomach.
"Ouch! I speak the truth!" Zayn grimaced in pain as Shea pinched him.
Daisy rubbed her arms, trying to control her emotions. How could her daughter marry someone so much younger? Especially when Zayn wasn't working. It was already commendable that he offered to be a sole heir for her daughter. But look, the woman chose an average jobless guy instead.
"Shea, where did you pick him up?" Daisy asked her daughter.
"Mom! Don’t say I picked him up," Shea hissed with a disapproving glance at Zayn.
"Mom matched you with a sole heir, yet you want to be with a jobless guy? What can he provide you? Love? That won’t fill you up!" Daisy said seriously.
"I'm not wealthy, Auntie, and I'm not a sole heir. But I assure you one thing, I will never disappoint your daughter," Zayn's words made both Daisy and Shea stare at him in shock.
"Being unemployed doesn’t mean I will escape my responsibilities. I will surely find work again soon. I won’t forget my duties as a husband. My salary might be small, but I will give all of it to Shea. Except, I'll save fifty thousand for transportation," Shea's misty gaze disappeared as she looked blankly at Zayn, who smiled innocently.
Unexpectedly, Daisy burst into laughter. This caused Shea and Zayn to exchange glances. Daisy's laughter was so loud that it attracted Kai, who had been playing in his room. The adorable boy hugged his Dino toy while looking at his Oma with wide eyes.
"Oma is covered in something, Mommy?" Kai asked with his innocent gaze.
"Zayn, even though you're struggling, I accept you as my son-in-law," Daisy said as she stopped laughing.
Zayn paused for a moment, confused about how to express his emotions. Meanwhile, Shea sighed in relief. At least her mother accepted Zayn as her son-in-law and wasn’t treating him poorly.
"Thank you, Auntie. I won’t disappoint you," Zayn said with a faint smile.
"Auntie? Shea, didn't you teach him to call me Mom?" Daisy asked, looking at her daughter.
Shea gave Zayn's thigh a hard slap, making him yelp loudly. "MOM!"
"Did you hear? He just called me Mom," Shea said with a forced smile.
Daisy beamed, "Oh, by the way, where do your parents live?" Daisy's question changed Zayn's expression.
Shea closely observed Zayn's face, which turned blank in an instant. She didn't know if her little husband knew where his parents were or not, as Zayn hadn't discussed his parents with her.
"They're not around anymore, Ma," Zayn said, trying to smile again.
"Oh, I see, I'm sorry. By the way, have you eaten? Come, let's have lunch together. You know, I made chicken curry when you came. My cooking is delicious! You have to try it!" Daisy rose from her seat, pushing her daughter aside and pulling Zayn's hand as she led him to the dining room.
"Mommy, that’s Oma taking him away," Kai remarked, watching his Oma leave.
Shea massaged her temples, closing her eyes for a moment. She thought Daisy would be curt with Zayn. But look now, in less than an hour, the middle-aged woman had accepted Zayn. In fact, they appeared quite familiar with each other, as if they were old friends.
"Kai, you only have one task left. Find your Oma a new husband," said Shea before leaving Kai, who was deep in thought.
"Where else can I find a match?" murmured the adorable boy, furrowing his brows.

After lunch, Shea took Zayn to rest in her room. Zayn thought Shea would lead him to the guest room. To his surprise, she brought him to her own room. How could he not be shocked? Nonchalantly, Shea led a man she had just met into her chamber. Well, even if they were husband and wife.
"Shea, maybe I should sleep in the guest room instead," Zayn suggested, causing Shea to stop in her tracks. She turned to look at the man in front of her, an eyebrow raised.
"You want Mama to scold you, huh?" Shea threatened. Actually, that wasn't really the case. Daisy wouldn't scold Zayn over something as trivial as a room. But Shea used Mama's name to scare Zayn a little.
"The bed only has one mattress. Are we going to sleep on the same one? Yes, I know we’re husband and wife. But don’t you feel awkward? I... I feel very awkward." Zayn lowered his head, his cheeks flushed.
Hearing that, one corner of Shea's mouth lifted. She walked closer to Zayn with an unreadable expression. Seeing this, Zayn felt afraid. Slowly, he took a step back, but Shea continued to advance toward him.
"F-fine, I’ll sleep here. I’ll sleep with you on the same bed. Well, that’s what you want, right? I....," Shea leaned her face closer to Zayn, causing him to instinctively pull away.
"Even if I asked you to take off all your clothes, you’d have to do it... little husband." Shea whispered, her finger tracing Zayn's jawline.
Zayn swallowed hard. Honestly, his body felt weak at that moment. Shea was truly toying with his feelings. His face was completely flustered, the redness creeping from his cheeks to his ears. Plus, with his fair skin, Shea could clearly see the flush.
"It seems you’re not well. Your heart is beating unusually," Shea murmured, leaning in to place her ear over Zayn's chest.
"C-could you back up? My heart might jump out if you keep this up, Shea." Zayn stammered.
Instead of stepping back, Shea became even more mischievous, placing her hand on Zayn's chest and stroking it gently. "In that case, just tell your heart to jump. I will...,"
"Mommy." Both were startled to see Azriel standing in the doorway, calling for his mommy. The expressions on the faces of the married couple turned pale, as if they had just been caught doing something inappropriate.
