Episode 5

HENRY'S POV

Suddenly, the door bursts open and my half-brother rushes in.

"Mom! Mom, you won't believe what happened?! The money…" he stops and probably just noticed I was there. "Henry, what are you doing here, out of your room? Where's Camille to get you out of here?! Camille! Camille!" he yells, giving me a glimpse of how they treat Camille in this house.

"Son, stop! Camille… poor Camille suffered an injustice, we're going to get her, son."

"Huh? What are you talking about, Mom? Poor Camille?"

"Son, listen to me at least once in your life! Shut your mouth and come with me to get Camille."

"And you, Henry! Are you hungry? I'll have them make your dinner, alright? I hope you're doing well, son!"

I feel her approaching, I don't need to see to feel that heavy, dark energy moving the air. I automatically step back.

"Don't touch me! I told you, if Camille isn't back in an hour, I'm going to throw your things out on the street."

"Watch how you talk to my mother, invalid!" My stepbrother pushes me, but I don't budge.

"Son! Stop! You have to treat your brother well! Henry, please forgive your brother!"

"Camille! Go get Camille!"

I hear their hurried footsteps and stand still until I can't hear them anymore.

I try to breathe calmly, I think it's been a long time since I've felt so much anger.

A lump formed in my throat, remembering the way my stepmother yelled at Camille only made me angrier.

“My God, what is wrong with Camille? Why was she putting up with all this for a jerk like me?!”

I get agitated, pacing back and forth. I hit my knee a few times and knock some things over, but that doesn't faze me, all I could think about was having Camille back here.

Some time passes. An hour? I do not know. All I know is that my stepmother comes in screaming and crying. I feel her grabbing my knees, kneeling at my feet and saying:

"Henry, I couldn't find Camille! Don't blame me, don't kick us out of here! We are your family! Camille, she… Camille wasn't at the police station when we got there, someone posted bail and got her out before we arrived. It must have been a lover of hers! That's it! I'm sure Camille was cheating on you."

I feel extremely irritated, I push that woman away without measuring my strength.

"Get out of here, both of you!"

"Ouch! Henry, how can you do this to your mother? Ouch, the pain!" She cries even more, which makes me angrier.

"Get these two people out of my house!" I yell, losing control, actually, I was already completely out of control.

"Henry, what are you doing? I'm your brother. You're choosing that whore over your family?"

"Shut your mouth!" I scream and knock over the shelf I was leaning on. I don't know what I broke, I just know that the sound of shattering glass showed that I must have knocked over fragile things.

"Henry! Calm down, we're going… we're going to find Camille, give us more time, please."

"Why is nobody listening to me and getting these people out of my house?!" I yell and hear no movement. I imagine the employees don't see me as the true owner of this house. “Okay, nobody's going to do anything, right? I'm going to call the police and if the police need to solve my problem, I'm going to fire everyone! I can't keep people I can't trust in my house!"

Silence fell and I picked up my cell phone, unlocked it and said:

"Call, 911."

A long beep sounded and a recording could be heard.

"You have reached the police, you will be connected shortly.”

I waited patiently until I was greeted.

"Please send some officers to my house. I am blind and my house has been broken into by strangers.”

I said it and after the attendant asked me some information and I said that I had all the papers that prove that I was the owner.

Before the call ended, I heard the cries of protest, I think the employees finally realized that I wasn't bluffing.

Only when I no longer heard the screams, I ended up canceling the arrival of the police.

Soon one of the maids came up to me, asking me what I wanted for dinner and if I needed help with anything.

It irritated me to no end, if they could have helped Camille before why didn't they do it sooner?

"I don't want anything, everybody get out of here!"

"Sir, don't fire us! We never interfered because the lady wouldn't let us and we didn't know that you were the owner of this house. Now, knowing that Camille is the true mistress, everyone here will be very happy.”

"Shut up! And leave me alone!"

I shouted and little by little, I heard the footsteps moving away and soon, everything was terribly silent.

I was alone, I was totally alone.

I ordered a burger from delivery, but I barely ate. I stayed up all night, sitting in the living room, waiting for Camille to come back. But she didn't come back.

The sound of birds and the movement of the house staff made me realize that it was dawn and Camille was still not there.

“Where did Camille go?”

Some employees showed up, offering me things, but I dismissed them. It was strange having other people trying to take care of me, when until today, I only had Camille, but now, for the first time, she wasn't taking care of me. She didn't care how I was.

Could she have left me for someone else?

As I thought, the same maid from yesterday appeared saying:

"Sir, there are some people here who want to see you."

"I don't want to see anyone!"

"But sir, they seem to be from some hospital…"

“Camille!? What happened to Camille?" I said, getting up immediately. I didn't want to think about it, but did something happen to her?

Could that idiot have lived such a ridiculous life, listening to my bullshit, suffering humiliations and dedicating herself to a jerk?

This is not fair!

"Sir, I'm going to ask them to come in, okay?"

I nod and wait.

I hear strange footsteps and soon I ask:

"Where's Camille, what happened to her?"
