As soon as my sister leaves for work, I play with my little ones in the living room.
Peter shows up at home with a box of chocolates and apologizes for yesterday, we end up making up.
While I prepare lunch, he plays with the kids. I watch them, Ravi and Luna adore him, I'm sure he will be a great father.
He helps me feed the kids. They already eat on their own, but they still make a mess and get all dirty.
I take them out of their high chairs, clean them up, and Peter goes to wash the dishes.
Luna whines, wanting to be held, they always want to sleep after eating.
I go to the room, change them, and lie down with them in my bed for them to sleep. I watch over their slumber and my heart warms up, they are our whole love.
"I can't wait for us to have our own!" Peter whispers at the door.
I smile.
I make a pillow fort around them and approach Peter. He pulls me into a passionate kiss.
"What do you think of spending the afternoon together?"
"It won't work, today I have a gynecologist appointment!"
He is all happy.
Close to the appointment time, I wake the kids up, give them a bath, change them, prepare the bottle, and while they drink and watch cartoons, I take a shower.
As soon as I'm ready, Peter helps me take the kids to the car. We put them in their car seats and I say goodbye to him with a quick kiss.
I go to Diana's workplace, and as soon as I park, she gets in the car, in the front seat. Ravi and Luna scream with excitement to see her.
"Missed mommy so much, my loves!" she says, kissing their little hands.
"Hug mommy!" Luna says.
"Hug mommy!" Ravi says, jealous.
"I don't know who Ravi takes after! He is so jealous!" I say, amused.
Diana smiles and tells them she will pick them up soon.
We continue chatting as we head to the doctor's office. She tells me that she was offered the position of CEO's secretary at the company where she is interning.
"And what did you say?" I ask curiously.
"I said I'll think about it, but there's no way! You know I have no one to leave the kids with, plus I have college!"
We arrive with ten minutes to spare, Diana picks up the two kids, showers them with kisses, and they cling to her.
As soon as we enter and settle into the waiting room chairs, the receptionist asks me to enter the doctor's office.
I enter her office, explain everything to her, and she suggests we do some routine exams. She takes the chance to ask me to put on the gown for the Pap smear.
I put on the gown, lie on the examination table, she asks me to put my arms behind my head and does the breast exam, as usual.
The doctor's expression changes when she touches a certain spot.
"Have you been doing breast exams at home, Eliza?"
"No, doctor! I thought it was recommended only for women over fifty!"
She touches the same spot again.
"How old are you again?" she asks, with one eyebrow raised.
"25!"
"You have a nodule in your left breast, but it is common in women aged 20 to 30!"
She performs the breast exam, takes the Pap smear, and asks me to get dressed.
When I return, I sit in her chair. During one of the exams, she requests a mammogram, which I can have done today, upstairs. I wasn't worried, as she said it was common.
I went up to have the mammogram done, and when I returned to the gynecologist's office, she told me not to worry, but that she would request a new mammogram with a biopsy, which would have to be done at the hospital.
My only concern was how I would pay for all of this. She told me not to worry, so I felt relieved.
With the referral, I went with Diana to the hospital to schedule this exam.
Afterward, we took the kids to play in the playground. It was a fun afternoon; we had ice cream, ran around, and played a lot. Ravi and Luna didn't want to leave and threw a tantrum, but when Diana looked at them with disapproval, they immediately stopped.
..."They say children don't understand!"...
We returned home, I took a shower, and went to the pub.
The night was quiet, during the week the place is pretty empty.
I was exhausted, so I closed up early and went upstairs to our home.
Diana and the kids were sleeping, Peter and I went to bed as well, because I have to wake up early for the exam.
The next day...
I woke up very early, did my personal hygiene, took a shower, got dressed and when I arrived in the kitchen, Diana was preparing breakfast.
Since yesterday, I noticed that she was worried about me, but she didn't say anything.
Peter also arrived in the kitchen and we had breakfast while talking. I asked him to accompany me to the exam today.
We went to the hospital, I was taken to do the mammogram. They applied an anesthetic to the area and with a thick needle they removed a piece of the nodule. The whole time, it was monitored by a camera through which they watched everything.
There in that place, I confess I started to worry, even if it was nothing, being in a hospital having a biopsy done became relevant and worrying.
As I left and paid for everything, I went the whole way in silence. Peter held my hand and gave me kisses. Maybe he didn't understand the situation. He was so concerned about living together and having a child, that he didn't notice the word biopsy.
... "Neither had I realized, until now!"...
I went the whole way looking out the window and mentally asking God that it was nothing serious.
When we arrived home, I was welcomed by my dear and beloved nieces and nephews. I ran to the bathroom, took a shower and came back to shower them with kisses.
Diana went to work and I spent the day with my beloved nieces and nephews.
All the worry disappeared as soon as I crossed those doors and saw those angelic faces looking at me with a big smile on their faces.
