Episode 8

Two days later...

I spent these days thinking about what to do, and even though Eliza wanted to protect me from a possible disappointment with Benjamin, he deserves to know that he will have a child. Obviously, I am not so dreamy as to believe that he will marry me to raise our baby.

I went to the obstetrician, she requested some exams and made some important recommendations for the beginning of this pregnancy. Doctor Milena is friendly, polite, and made me feel comfortable.

Apart from that fainting spell, I am not feeling any kind of discomfort. It felt more like a warning.

I wake up early, do my personal hygiene, take a shower, get dressed and go to the condominium where the wedding party was held.

I speak to the security guards, but they do not allow me to enter.

I wait for a few seconds and see Benjamin, accompanied by one of the guys from the party, arriving. They were both sweaty, probably from running.

As soon as he sees me and our eyes meet, he is speechless, but I approach them.

"Can we talk, Ben..."

He rolls his eyes and says:

"Look, girl, our night was good, but I don't usually repeat..."

My face burns and I feel myself blushing.

"Don't be a jerk, cousin!" the other guy scolds.

I cross my arms, narrow my eyes, and say.

"I just want to talk! I don't want to repeat that night, it was good, but it wasn't anything special either!" I lie, to lower his ego.

His cousin laughs and leaves us alone.

"If you want, I can take you somewhere and leave you unable to walk for days, from how much I will fuck you and give you pleasure!" he exclaims angrily.

"No, I don't want to! Like I said, I don't usually repeat the same woman! What I came to talk about is very serious! I'm pregnant!" I blurt out the news at once.

He freezes.

"I know you're surprised..., it was the same reaction I had and..."

He snaps back to reality, looks around, grabs my arm and pulls me to a corner.

"I told you to take the morning-after pill!"

"I took it, okay, but apparently it didn't work!"

"Listen here, if you think you're going to pull a pregnancy scam, you're very mistaken, I know your type!"

My blood boils and I pull my arm away forcefully.

His words hurt, my eyes well up, and I slap him across the face.

"You know damn well that I was a virgin!"

"That night, yes, but what about after! Look, girl, I have a life in another country, I'm here temporarily, I have many dreams to fulfill and I'm not going to let a girl make up lies to hold me back..."

"I get it, Benjamin! Have a safe trip back and I hope to never see that shameless face of yours again!" I say through gritted teeth.

I take a few steps forward, turn to the guy who remains in shock, and say.

"I hope you achieve all your dreams and goals, but I also wish that no woman ever satisfies you as a man again, you idiot!"

Irritated, with my face bathed in tears, I walk back home, his insults echoing in my head.

I stop at a little park, sit on a bench, hug my legs and cry uncontrollably with my face buried in my knees.

... "How could I be so stupid? I let myself be carried away by this shitty passion and look where it got me! What will become of me? What will become of this baby, my God!"

I hadn't thought about the consequences yet, because deep down, I believed that at least he would acknowledge the child and I wouldn't be alone in all of this.

I stayed there for hours, my phone rang several times and I didn't have the strength to answer.

Suddenly, I hear Eliza shouting for me. I look up and she is getting out of Peter's car and coming towards me.

She approaches, seeing my state she just hugs me.

"I was so worried, we searched in several places! I'm so glad you're safe and sound!" she says and kisses the top of my head.

"He... thinks I'm... just some girl, a... gold-digger after... money!" I say between sobs.

"Oh my love, I wanted so much to spare you from this suffering! This kind of man only wants to have fun with women, discarding them as if they were trash! I didn't want to see you go through this..."

"The pain in your words is suffocating my chest!" I say.

"I know... I know how you feel!"

"What will become of me and my baby?"

"You're not alone, my little flower! I'm here and together we will get through this, I will help you raise my nephew or niece..."

"But what about college?"

"My love, look at me!" she says, holding my chin.

"It won't change your plans! You're pregnant, not sick! Obviously, it will be a bit more complicated, but I'll always be here to help you! Okay?" she asks and I nod. "I love you, my little flower!"

"I love you too, sweetheart!"

Calm, she takes me to the car and we head back home.

I won't say it'll be easy, but I will overcome. I will rise and fight to give my baby a good life.

I spend the rest of the day being taken care of and pampered by Eliza. If there is a sister like her in the world, I am unaware, because to me she is unique.

At night, she goes to the pub.

I take a bath, put on my lingerie, and look at my belly in the mirror for a few minutes, caressing it.

I have always dreamed of building a family, but a few years from now, but if God is giving me this gift, I am grateful. I will love and protect him with all my strength, I will not let anything be missing.

He won't have his father around, but he will have a mother who will be both father and mother.

After getting dressed, I have the wonderful meal that Eliza left prepared.
