Episode 6

Ethan's POV

The rest of the week passed in a series of monotonous and repetitive days. Every morning, I would arrive at the office hoping to have a slightly more meaningful interaction with Alexander Stone, but what seemed like it could go well was reduced to little more than delivering papers or receiving brief instructions. No one seemed surprised by Alexander's attitude, so I was beginning to assume I should get used to it.

Despite the fact that the encounters with the CEO were so minimal, my heart would get excited, and I would constantly end up feeling empty and disappointed. I found myself longing for any minimal interaction with him, even if it was just a kind word or a gesture of acknowledgment.

I was confused by my own feelings, wondering why Stone's attention mattered so much to me, and why I was unconsciously excited every time I interacted with him, even if it was to receive more work. Maybe I was just looking for validation and recognition from him because he seemed so much closer than he really was, and by close I meant that his office was just across the hall, but he was as unattainable as getting an autograph from my favorite singer. I reflected again and again on my secretary relationship with Stone and what it meant, if I behaved this way because of the excitement of working so close to a successful dominant alpha like him, or that he just seemed handsome, or there was really something deeper that I couldn't understand. What was clear was that it wasn't reciprocal, and I was the problem.

As I was organizing files for Stone, a girl from the office, Laura, approached me with some papers.

"I see you've been struggling to get along with our CEO," the girl said with a kind smile, leaving the files on my desk.

"Uh... yes, I really don't look like his secretary, just another worker."

"Well, it's understandable, I don't know how long the boss has been like this, but at least his last secretary accentuated his rejection of omegas."

"Huh? Why?"

"Well, even then the CEO demanded that his secretary not be an omega, but this secretary lied, once his heat came, as Mr. Stone is a dominant alpha, he is also much more sensitive to the pheromones of omegas, so that day was truly chaotic… Apparently that omega wanted to catch Mr. Stone off guard and you know… let his pheromones act."

"That sounds... unpleasant." I said in disgust, surprised that in this case the case of harassment was not from an alpha to an omega, but the other way around.

"Yeah, well, good luck. I'll leave these papers for Mr. Stone." She gave me one last smile and walked away as if she had just told me something I probably shouldn't know.
