Ethan's POV
On Monday, determined to follow my best friend's advice, I woke up early that morning, headed to the office, and looked for a nearby coffee shop before going in. As I waited in line, I was unsure which coffee to choose. I wondered what kind of coffee a man like Alexander would like.
Finally, I opted for a caramel macchiato, the kind of coffee I liked best. I chose that one because, in my head, I had developed a plan B in case he didn't like it. I could say that I simply forgot my coffee on his desk while I was leaving some paperwork there.
With the coffee in hand, I arrived at the office and went to Alexander's office, which was still empty. I knew he would be arriving soon, and I hoped so because, if he was late, the coffee I left on his desk would get cold.
I sighed and left his office to go to my desk. There I saw Alexander arrive, as imposing as ever, and he only greeted me with a look. My heart began to race with anxiety about whether my plan would work.
I waited and waited until Alexander left his office again. So I took the opportunity to go in and check if he had drunk his coffee, which to my surprise, he had, as the container was in his wastebasket. I sighed in relief and turned around, but there I saw Alexander entering the office again, which made me nervous because I had been caught snooping in his office.
"Ethan," he said with a serious expression.
"Ah, Mr. Stone... I was just... I was just coming to check if I had given you some papers."
"Thank you for the coffee. It's one of my favorites," he said in a slightly softer tone of voice than usual.
"How did you know it was me?" I said nervously, fidgeting with my hands, but deep down I was thrilled with the acknowledgment.
"Well, your name was on the cup," he said with a slight smile.
My heart skipped a beat with joy at hearing all those words and seeing those new expressions on his face. I would never have imagined that such a simple gesture would have such a significant impact. I firmly hoped that this was the beginning of a new dynamic between us.
"Well, if you like, I can bring you a coffee every morning."
"That would be nice. Thank you very much," he said, maintaining that pleasant tone.
"Well, I'll let you get back to work." I bowed slightly and walked out with my heart pounding. I was sure my cheeks were even a little red, so I had to get out of there quickly.
I was fascinated to have seen that new side of Alexander. I felt special, although I knew I shouldn't feel that way. I was just his secretary, and I was barely earning my place.
The rest of the day was very pleasant. Alexander seemed much more willing to interact with me and ask for my support on different tasks, although obviously they were only work-related things, but for me, that was enough.
