Episode 10

Ethan's POV

Stone, after a couple of days of the little routine that had formed where I brought him his coffee in the mornings, decided to invite me to a meeting at an affiliated company in order to keep me up to date on the work and clients that the company had. Of course, my boss's invitation took me by surprise, I didn't expect him to take that kind of initiative in our work relationship, but I felt proud to be valued, so without a problem we headed to the meeting headquarters.

Upon arriving at the affiliated company, Stone led me to the meeting room, where he told me to wait outside while he attended the meeting. Nervously, I sat down on a chair in the hallway, anxious about what I would face after the meeting.

As the minutes passed, I began to feel uncomfortable. The employees of the affiliated company passed me by, giving me curious looks, and I could hear that they were just as curious about the fact that the popular Alexander Stone had a new assistant. I didn't understand why they were so surprised, but it soon became clear to me.

"Stone's new secretary? You look like an omega trying to pass for a beta, but you're not fooling anyone. That Stone doesn't know how to treat omegas, he says he hates them, why would you waste your time working for him? You should be with an alpha who values you..." A tall, burly man approached me, smiling as he held out his hand to me, which I pushed away.

"I'm his secretary, not his lover, and I'm a beta, there's nothing to hide." Despite being annoyed, I felt a lurch in my stomach from nerves, did he really see me as an omega?

I tried to remain calm in the face of the supposed flirting, rather harassment, of the alpha in front of me, reminding myself that I shouldn't cause trouble, especially when Mr. Stone was on the other side of the door, but his words were beginning to wear down my patience, I felt vulnerable.

Before I lost my composure, the meeting room door opened.

"Is there a problem here?" It was Stone, speaking authoritatively.

The other alpha was surprised and shook his head, cowardly walking away, which made me sigh in relief.

"Everything okay, Ethan?" Alexander asked me, who seemed to be getting more used to calling me by my first name.

"Yes, yes, everything's fine." I said with a nervous smile.

Stone nodded, but I could tell from his face that he didn't believe my words because he knew what had happened, but I wondered if his appearance was a coincidence or if he felt the need to protect me.

That night, in my bed, I reflected on the harassment I had suffered that day, it had rarely happened to me, and it was not the first time that I had been mistaken for an omega, although my appearance did not make me feel insecure, it did remind me how vulnerable one could feel to other alphas. I kept thinking about how admirable Stone could be, if I was idealizing him or if he was truly an admirable alpha.
