Chapter 8

Jamie entered his apartment slowly putting down the grocery bag in his hand on the floor as he walked up to the midsize mirror in his room as he pulled up his shirt staring at his body.

Tracing his lean finger from his belly up to his chest, he could indeed feel how frail and feminine-like his body was.

Jamie had went out just less than an hour ago to get something from the shopping mart down his street. He is not the type to always go out of is house as he gets whatever he wants by order-even to the smallest coffee or brush, he did rather buy it online than go out. But since his friend told him to try and go out once in a while so has not to be indoor all the time he had decided to go out earlier and get some of his needs instead of ordering them online.

He had met this old lady on his way back who had asked for his help in crossing the road and she had referred to him as a girl.

"My beautiful daughter, can you assist me in crossing the road. I didn't bring my glasses along."

Jamie remembered what the old lady had said as he wondered what made her think he was a girl, is it because he was a slim guy dressed in an oversized hoodie and sweatpants or it's literally just because she didn't bring her glasses along with her like she had stated?

Jamie would have loved to accept the latter as the reason if he haven't heard about this before, several times, he had been mistaken for a girl-even with him having a short hair and all.

He had known since he was young he was on the feminine side having a frail body just like his mom, from the pale lean body, to his bluish green eye, they look so much like his mother. Looking at himself in the mirror sometimes reminds him of her. He had being the only one to look so much like her with his three elderly brothers looking like their dad.

Maybe that's more reasons why they loved him.

Giving out a low shaky breathes, Jamie pulled down his hoodie as he walked back to the bag he had dropped picking it up.

He had went out to get himself some colored pencils and colouring books as he had used up all the space in his old coloring books. Setting the small bag on his bed as he made to sit down, he felt his leg hit something under the bed as he squat down pulling out what it was.

It's was a small pink metal box covered in stickers and glitters. Jamie remembered shoving it under the bed about a year now. Sitting on the floor, Jamie slowly pulled the lock strap holding the small metal together as he opened it taking out the content in it.

The box contains pictures of him and his brothers, and some of him and his parents when he was young. Looking over the pictures again, Jamie felt his heart ache at some when he smiled lowly sometimes too. He really did missed his family.

Even though now he is trying his best to forget about them and moved on, he still sometimes can't help but think about them. He had out the box under the bed, the day he decided not to cry over them again and that was about eleven months ago, almost a year now.

Looking at a picture of him and his brothers, he was sitting in the middle of his first and third brother both cuddling up to him as he smile sheepishly at the camera, he second brother had taken the picture. It was on one of the time they do have their movie night.

Jamie missed those times so much. The times he felt cared for with his loving brothers caring and being affectionate to him. The times he had nothing to worry about because his brothers will always get his back. They were always ready to protect him at all cost.

He remembered when one of his classmates had teased him for his frail look when he was in seventh grade, his brothers had made the boy to apologize to him in front of their classmates for that. They so much loved him.

And Jamie had loved those moments, those times. He missed everything. He wants to feel what it means to be loved and cared for again.

Putting back the photos into the box as he felt his throat drying up and getting clogged as he tried his best not to cry, Jamie stood up slowly as he walked towards his little space fort.

He is sad and he needed comfort, with no one to do that for him, his only solace his being in his little headspace and trying his best not to think of anything-which doesn't work most time.

Sitting down on his makeshift fort, pulling a blue dolphin plushie to himself, Jamie started cuddling himself with it as he sway left and right slowly, trying to comfort himself.

This doesn't work though as he couldn't hold it any longer, breaking down sadly as the tears which had been begging to be released all along come out flowing freely down his pale cheek.

Jamie feels lonely, he wanted to be comforted, he wanted someone he could rely on, he needed a solace.

"Ah..ngh" whimpering softly as he pushed his stuffed dolphin away realising it's not helping the way he wanted, Jamie stood up walking out of his room towards the livingroom where he had dropped his phone as he pressed the quick dial button calling on someone he could think of at that moment.

Liam.

The phone rings for about ten seconds before it was picked as Liam's voice calls out from the phone.

"Jamie?"

"L-liam." Jamie called softly, trying his best not to sound as his little self.

"Yes, it's me. What's wrong? Did you need something?" Liam asked worriedly.

Jamie felt a waved of guilt washed through him, why is he calling him? He haven't talked to the guy since yesterday that he had left school. And now he is calling him just because he needed someone to comfort him and he had thought of him.

Knowing the fact that Liam can't be the person to comfort him since he has his own little, Jamie felt even more worst about the situation.

"Jamie, are you still there?"

"Sowwie, mewstake." Jamie said as he quickly disconnected the call his tears running out even more. He felt miserable. He feels so desperate to have a caregiver and he was thinking of his friend who was taken already.

About to drop his phone and wallow in his sorrow throughout the rest of the day. Jamie caught a glimpse of the fourth number laying last on his contact list.

Vincent

That was what he saved the number as. Remembering how he had collected the number from the younger boy about four days now without calling him.

Jamie slowly dial on the number which started ringing almost immediately as he chewed on his fingernails nervously.

"Hello?"

Jamie felt his heart skipped as a cold shiver rang through his spine on hearing the now familiar, deep husky voice which sounded so pleasant and soothing to his hearings that he had no idea he had closed his eyes trying to take in the effects a single voice from the boy had done to him until he heard the voice again.

"Hi? Sorry who is this?"

Flicking his eye open. Jamie flushed in embarrassment on realising he haven't said anything yet.

"H-hi" Jamie said softly as he pick up the large stuffed bunny on his bed resting it on his lap as he cuddle it. "I-its Jamie." He said again when he didn't heard anything from the other side of the phone.

"I know, recognized your voice."  Vincent replied. "I am glad you called. I was waiting for your calls since I gave you my contact."

Jamie bit down on his lip trying his best not to make a weird sound as he finds what the younger had said strangely arousing.

"Jamie is sowwie." Jamie clasped his hand over his mouth on hearing how he had slipped.

Jamie could heard the younger chuckles. "It's okay. Atleast you called."

Jamie felt a bit sad on hearing the younger laughed, he had no idea the meaning relaying with it. He probably find him ridiculous for talking in a third person when referring to himself. Bitting down on his lower lip as he heard the younger said again.

"So, what's up? Anything for me?"

Jamie released his lip from the grip of his teeth as he sat up nervously. He knew the reason he had called him. And rather than running away from it, he rather face it. Even if it didn't turn out the way he wanted atleast he did know he tried his best.

Taking a slow deep breathe, Jamie grip soften slowly on the plushie on his lap as he said.

"C-can I see you todae-now? At my house. Ja-I have something to tell you." Jamie said almost in a whisper as he sucked on his thumb afterwards waiting for Vincent reply.

"Now? Why not. I will just pick up my-"

"Vincent Hudson! Where the **** did you think you are going? Get your *** back here right now!!" Jamie heard someone yelled in the background.

"Sorry coach! Can I skipped today's practice? I have to go somewhere. It's really important" Vincent replied the older man as Jamie could heard a background noise of him rushing to pick something. "I will be there soon Jamie. See you in twenty." Vincent added as the call dropped with a long beep tone.

Jamie sat still for a while lingering on his conversation with Vincent when it actually dawn on him what's happening.

Vincent is coming over to his place!

He had skipped his practice saying seeing him is more important!

Jolting up from his bed, falling down as he got intertwined with the blanks. Jamie whines as he stood up rushing towards his living room to wait for him.
