Chapter 6

...•~•...

Jamie walked down the street going to his house hugging the jar of cookies to himself with so much excitement.

He had gotten the little gift from Chanel earlier that day, she said her brother made it and she had decided to share some with him.

Despite the fact that Vincent told him they'd be seeing soon, it's been more than a month now and Jamie had lost hope of seeing the young boy again. Not like they had any reason for them to meet again.

The older had started to forgot how the boy looks like and had start letting go of the weird feeling he had when he had seen the boy that day. He had made himself believe he felt that way due to the heat of the moment.

And now? He was given a jar of cookies made by him, which he had gladly collected-right after getting permission from Liam if it's appropriate to collects gift from his students, and the latter had told him, he can if the students had willingly given it to him.

And that is, he is going home with the precious gift in his arms. Jamie couldn't help but giggles, it was the first special gift he would be receiving in a while.

Not like he never gets gifts before, Liam and his girlfriend do buy him gifts sometimes especially on his birthdays, but not from outsiders, the brother of one of his students.

(Totally forgot Chanel told him she was the one who brought the gift for him.)

Jamie had planned to go home and eat it while he savour every bit of it. He finds himself giggling again as he increased his walking pace, in a order to get home real quick.

"Watch out twink!" A guy yelled.

Jamie didn't have time to understand what was going on when he felt himself being shoved to the floor. Some bunch of guys had ride passed him in their bicycles. Jamie hadn't expected that, they had passed through the pedestrian lane instead of the main road.

Jamie whines as he felt a sharp pain in his leg and palm looking down at his hand to realised the jar in his hand had broken causing some sharp piece of the glasses to pierce through his palm while the content spill all over the floor.

Not minding the pain in his hand, Jamie almost burst into tears as he stares at all the cookies on the floor. "N-no no." Jamie whimpers, he tried gathering the cookies together, hurting his hand more by stabbing his fingers in the broken glasses.

"Hey! Leave the way! What the heck is wrong with you?!" Jamie felt himself being shoved aside again by some pedestrian who are walking by.

Jamie couldn't help but tear up as he listened to what some of them were saying, feeling himself regressing slowly into his little space.

"Why the heck is he sitting on the floor?"

"Is he seriously crying because of a mere cookie?"

"What a weirdo! What's wrong with him?"

Jamie, ignoring the comments as he cries trying to pack the cookies into a big slab of the broken jar when he felt someone else held his hand trying to lift him up.

"Lemmie!" Jamie whines trying to jerk his hand away from unknown.

"Come on Jamie, you have to stand up!"

Jamie heard the familiar voice that have him those weird feelings. He looks up slowly with tears in his eye to see him-the boy who had made him the cookies which is now sitting across the street floor.

Vincent.

"Follow me!" Vincent said before he pulled Jamie up walking him away from the staring eyes towards a deserted park. He told him to sit down. Jamie still holding unto the broken jar in his hand containing few of the cookies didn't complain. He sat down obediently not looking up at Vincent.

"Are you okay? Your hand seems bruised."

Jamie didn't reply as he kept looking down at his feet. Jamie heard the boy sighed.

"Wait here, I will be right back." Jamie heard Vincent said before hearing his receding footsteps as he walks away.

As much as Jamie didn't want to wait, he couldn't help but sat down obediently waiting for the boy to come back. Despite the fact that the boy had just witnessed what happened, Jamie didn't want to leave, maybe it's because he is finally seeing the boy again a month after their first meet, he really didn't want to leave.

Jamie noticed the boy came back in few minutes dropping a small supermart bag by his feet. Jamie is still not looking up at him, he didn't think he is ready to talk to the man yet.

One, he had slipped into his little space and didn't want him to find out about it.

Second, the boy just found him being so childish and crying over his cookies that had fell down on the street.

Jamie is so embarrassed and didn't want to look up at the disappointed look in the boys face.

He did looked up though when Vincent tried to collect the broken jar from him. Jamie pulled his hand away refusing to release it.

"You have to give me that Jamie, I have to throw it away and treat you bruised hand also."

"Nuh" Jamie whines.

"What?'

Jamie bit down on his lip looking down as he tries to calm himself down. He want to protest on letting the boy collects the cookies from him but he doubts if he can do that with the headspace he is in at that moment.

"Hey" Vincent said again as he slowly placed his hand on Jamie's lap. "The cookies is no longer edible, it's mostly filled with gems, dirt and the broken pieces of glass from the jar. You can't eat it unless you want to harm yourself."

Jamie stared at Vincent hand on his lap while he said softly. "B-buh it's Jam-it's mine. Y-you make it. Ja-I abn't taste yet" Jamie fumbles with his words.

Jamie felt himself tearing up again, he was so heartbroken he was finding it hard to be in his big space, he had planned of eating the cookie when he gets home but now it's about to be collected from him and thrown away.

He didn't realised he was already crying until he felt Vincent's hand in his face caressing his cheek softly as he wipes away the tears. This little gesture made Jamie looked up at Vincent. He is touching him-carressing his face. Jamie felt the urge to lean into his palm but he knew he better not.

"How about I give you another one?"

"...."

"I have another in my car, I was going to give it to my friends before but I can give it to you if you let me throw this away and treat your hand for you. You have to treat it now before it get worst than this."

That seems to do the magic as Jamie reluctantly freed the cookie, bitting hard on his lip watching Vincent disposed off the jar into the nearest trashcan beside them.

Jamie watched silently as Vincent helped washed his hand, removed the broken piece of glasses still in his hand before disinfecting the bruise and putting on multiple bandaids to close up the multiple cut.

Jamie couldn't help but smile as he stares at the kitty cat bandaid pasted all over his hand as he looked up at Vincent.

It's cute.

"Thankies"

Vincent smiled, a bit confused as he looked at Jamie. "Okay?"

Vincent disposed off the stuffs he had used to take care of Jamie as he held his hand. "Follow me."

Jamie obediently followed him. The younger walked them towards where he parked his car. It was another car, totally different from the one he had brought to school a month ago. Jamie didn't know the name but he is very sure it's a very expensive car.

Vincent released his grip on Jamie before he opened his car stretching inside. Comes out few seconds later turning to Jamie with a small wooden box in his hand. "Here"

Jamie already figured out what was inside, as much as he was very happy to collect it, he didn't want to seem like the greedy type, he had being given his share which he had carelessly wasted, he didn't want to collect the one meant for the boy's friend.

"Y-you don't have to-"

"Oh come on, I wanted to. My friends probably won't appreciate it anyway. They had eaten this lots of time. It makes no different." Vincent cut him off. "And the reason I decided to make this today is because it's my birthday, and I want you to taste out of it. See it as my birthday present."

Jamie smiled as he slowly collected the cookies, "I thought it's the other way round though, I am the one who should give you a birthday present not the other way round." Jamie said, now successful back in his big space.

"Well...I don't mind being the one giving out the birthday present if it's you."

"..." Jamie stares up at the younger who was obviously taller than him.

This was their first time having a much real talk, a longer one at that and had spend more than just a brief minutes together, even though it's actually their second meeting, it means something to Jamie. Something he was scared of accepting.

"I-I should probably get going. T-thanks for the cookies and happy birthday to you." Jamie said as he made to leave but was held back by the younger.

"Wait."

Jamie looking down at where Vincent as held him-the helm of his t-shirt.

"..."

"Where did you live? I will take you." Vincent asked.

"No, it's okay, I can walk there."

"But I want to....please?"

Staring at Vincent for a while, Jamie finally agreed as Vincent gladly opens the door to his car for Jamie to enter. The younger also entered driving the older to his destination.
