Chapter 5

"I want nuggets."

Vincent heard Chanel's voice from the backseat as he turned to see she was finally awake. "Baby, you are awake."

Vincent is driving them both back home after picking her late from school. He had literally forgotten his mom texted him earlier that morning to pick Chanel up at school because her personal driver will be running an errand for her.

He was too invested in his hockey after-class practice to remember, not until he went to check the time on his phone and had saw Chanel's picture he had used as his phone wallpaper that he remembered. He had quickly changed his wears and rushed down to her school to pick her up.

He really felt bad for making her and her teacher wait for hours because of that.

"I wasn't sliping beefor" Chanel replied yawning. Vincent chuckled turning back to face the road. "Ofcourse, you are not. But no chicken nuggets for you though." Vincent added.

"Ehn, why not?" Chanel whines.

"You know why, because mum said no, you have been eating that alot recently." Vincent explained.

"But I won't tell."

"And that's rebelling against mom's rule. I don't want to do that." Vincent replied, not in anyway ready to accept the little girl request. "That means you are disobeying her orders."

His mom had been against Chanel eating any meat for sometime now and Vincent had agreed to that also. Chanel had fell sick about a month ago because of it. From stomach ache, to vomiting and diarrhea, she had experienced it all due to feasting on majorly the nuggets for almost three weeks straight, the girl had been so addicted to it, she literally eats it everyday.

Those days Chanel was sick is literally one of the worst days of Vincent life. He had been so scared and worried. Seeing her that weak and sick had reminded him of someone so special to him and it haunted him so much. He never wanted to experienced that again.

Looking at Chanel from the rearview mirror, Vincent smile to see her pouting as she folds her arm to herself. The little girl is angry.

"How about I bake for you instead? Cupcake? Cookies? Macarons? Anything you want." Vincent asked after a few minutes silence between them.

"R-really?"

"Ofcourse, if you want, we can bake it together."

"Promise?" Chanel asked, a bit skeptical about the offer.

"Pinky promise babe." Vincent replied raising up his right hand little finger to the back as Chanel crossed it with hers

"Okay!" Chanel replied with a smile.

The little girl was indeed happy and Vincent knew that. They had always cook or bake pastries together until recently that Vincent gets too busy with school works and practice.

But it won't hurt doing that with her again today.

Vincent so much loved his daughter-she is the apple of his eye. Yes, he was indeed the real father of the three–almost four years old girl (will be four in few months time). Vincent had her when he was only fourteen years old, it was a one-time mistake with his girlfriend which had taken her and left him alone with their precious little girl they made out of love.

Vincent had been the one to take care of her with the help of his parents-mother. Most people believed Chanel was his sister, most of his friends thought she was his sister, only Dylan and Owen who were his closest and childhood friend knew he was the father.

He doubt if Chanel knew he was her father, she had always called him by his name and called his mother her mom. Not like he was complaining. He believed she was still young to understand things for now and planned to tell her later on when she grows up.

"You saw Jamie today?" Chanel asked after another round of few minutes between them.

"Jamie? Who is that? Your friend?"

"My class teacher."

"The nice and friendly teacher you used to talk about?"

"Yes."

Vincent had saw him, though he doubted if he really was a teacher until he asked him to confirm. He doesn't look like a teacher at all. Maybe because of his young look, Vincent believe they are almost in the same age range. Vincent looked a bit more mature than his age but he is sure the teacher should more or less his age range.

And judging from the way he flushed and gets embarrassed so easily, even though he had no idea why he was that flustered to talk to him, Vincent couldn't help but find him cute. He reminds him so much of his late girlfriend.

"He is so pretty right? I want to marry him when I grow up."

Vincent chuckled on hearing what his daughter said, "Marry him? He is older than you Chanel. And that's a bit too early for you to decide. Why don't you grow up a bit first, you might find someone your age range that is more pretty than him."

"No, he is mine, only mine. Other girls in my class likes him too, I have to make him mine before they snatch him from me." Chanel whines.

Vincent laugh shaking his head, "I think I need to stop you from watching those cheesy romcom with mom, it's starting to make you think you can date your teacher at this your age "

"Uhmp, you don't know anything." Chanel pouts looking away from Vincent who smiled as he drives into his parents huge mansion.

Packing his car in front of the house pocketing his key, Vincent walks out of the car to the backseat. He opens the door carrying Chanel out. Walking into the house, some maids greeted him before walking past him towards the car to get Chanel's lunchbox and school bag.

"And why the heck is my daughter just coming home by this time of the day?!" Vincent froze on a spot. His dad domineering voice echoed round the huge livingroom.

"Don't tell me you are just picking her up." Vincent mom added.

"Daddy!" Chanel called happily.

Looking up to see his parents walking down one of the two spiral staircase to the livingroom, with his mother's hand wrapped around his father's arm. They both looked like they are walking down a runway showcasing themselves in their expensive high-end outfits and aura.

Vincent groan inwardly as he watched his dad walk towards him with a cold glare.

He didn't have the best relationship with his dad-ever since the death of his girlfriend, his dad had been so cold to him. Barely friendly towards him again-like he used to.

"Dad, you are back." Vincent with a low smile.

He missed his dad, he couldn't deny that. Hiss dad is barely around. And he dare not try to call his dad to ask about him, not like the dad will pick it anyway. The only time he heard about his dad was from his mom.

"Why? You don't want me around?" Brad, Vincent's dad retort as he carried Chanel away from Vincent arm pampering the little girl with several kisses. "Oh my little princess, do you miss me? Because I miss you so much."

"I miss you too daddy....so much." Chanel replied as she giggles.

Well, at least he loved my daughter. Even more than me.

"Hi mom" Vincent greeted as Pearl his mom waved at him before returning her gaze back to Chanel and her husband also cooing at Chanel.

Deciding he had enough of seeing his old man and his wife displaying love and affection to their granddaughter ignoring their own son. Vincent sighed mentally as he decided to leave them alone and go to him room.

"Come back here young man, we need to talk." Pearl's voice stopped him on track as he turned back to them. "The both of us" Pearl added referring to her husband.

Weren't you the one ignoring me just now?

"Can I take my bath first? I am kinda feeling dirty and sticky." Vincent said as he walks away not waiting for their reply with the thought of what his parents had to tell him that could made his dad come home despite him having several companies and business meetings around the world he could be at.

But no matter what it is, Vincent only hope is that it's not something serious.
