The morning sun cast its warm glow on the bustling streets of downtown. Folks hurried about, their faces filled with anticipation as they went about their daily routines. In the midst of it all stood the Office Carter, a small yet significant establishment that loomed over the corner of Maple Street. It was a place where dreams were made and crushed, where fortunes were won and lost. Inside its weathered walls, the sound of typewriters clacking blended with the chatter of eager clients. James Carter, the proprietor, was a man of few words but great ambition. He ran the office with precision and determination, always striving to provide his clients with the best possible service. Carter had arrived at the office as usual after spending several days at the hospital by Emma's side.

He was sitting, looking at some papers on his desk when his best friend Rodrigo walked in.

"Hey, killer...! Where have you been?" said Rodrigo, a handsome blond man with honey eyes and a smile, sitting across from Carter's desk.

"I'm not up for your games, Rodrigo. I have too much work with the new investments in the Tulum beaches. The permits were delayed, and we were about to inaugurate...!" said Carter, not taking his eyes off the papers.

"Your sister Kelly told me that you almost killed a woman, that's why you haven't been here. I've already talked to the lawyers, if she wants to file a lawsuit, we need to be prepared because once she finds out who you are, she'll want to tear you apart. And as for Tulum, you know you'll get the permits, it's just a matter of going to Mexico!" said Rodrigo, Carter's friend.

At that moment, Carter's cellphone rang.

"Good afternoon, sir. I have news for you," said Ramon, Carter's bodyguard.

"Yes, tell me, Ramon, what's happening?" said Carter.

"Miss Emma has woken up. The doctor said they will perform some tests to rule out any sequelae from the accident, but overall she is fine," said Ramon, Carter's bodyguard.

"That's great. Has her friend been with her? Have they asked anything?" asked Carter, with a smile on his face, unaware that Rodrigo was watching him.

"Yes, sir, her friend is still here. Miss Emma had an anxiety episode, she couldn't stop crying, so they had to give her a sedative to calm her down, but they haven't asked any questions so far," said Ramon.

"But why did she react like that?" asked Carter.

"I don't know, sir," said Ramon.

"Okay, let me know when the doctor has the test results, no matter what," said Carter, hanging up with a smile on his face.

"But look at that, I've never seen you smile like that, and I imagine it's because you got good news about the woman you almost killed, right?" said Rodrigo.

"Well, she woke up, and that saves me from going to jail and being in all the headlines," said Carter, becoming serious.

"Hmm, or maybe it's because you're interested in that woman. Your expression changed as soon as they called you," said Rodrigo, Carter's friend.

"Don't be ridiculous, she's not my type. Apparently, she's a recently graduated lawyer," said Carter, nervously looking back at the papers.

"Alright, whatever you say. I just remembered that your grandfather called again to see if you've found a wife yet. If not, say goodbye to heading the company," said Rodrigo, leaving the office and leaving Carter deep in thought, as he knew his grandfather had given him an ultimatum to get married and start a family to continue leading the company.
