Episode 15

"What do you want from me?" Nadine asked the man who introduced himself as Adam Alvarez. For some reason, her heart pounded when he looked into her eyes, especially now that they were so close, she could smell the fragrance of his breath.

Marvin smirked, his gaze not wavering as he looked into the eyes of the girl before him. "I want you."

Nadine was taken aback by his words, she looked at the stranger questioningly, then let out a small laugh, "Don't joke, we've only just met. And I'm already engaged."

Nadine thought Marvin wanted her because he was attracted to her, but Marvin's intent was to use her as a means of revenge against her father and Sonya. Marvin wished to exact a refined revenge that would shatter their lives.

"Unfortunately, I'm not a man who gives up easily." Marvin leaned his face closer to Nadine's.

But Nadine held him back, ensuring their lips did not touch even though their faces were incredibly close. She warned Marvin again, "I'm engaged, and I'll be married soon. So don't play games with me."

Nadine wasn't surprised that men fell for her, as she had rejected the advances of many, countless indeed. She had never dated, never knew what it felt like to fall in love, because she was well aware she was betrothed to Damar and could not refuse the arrangement, even if her heart was not in it.

Marvin stifled a laugh, perhaps because Nadine might think he was fond of her when in reality, he despised her. How could he love a girl who shared blood with his father? Especially since her entry into his life had caused suffering for him and his mother. And his mother had died in such a tragic manner.

Marvin took two steps back. Then he knelt, startling Nadine, what was this man going to do to her?

Nadine watched in amazement as Marvin began to tend to her wounded knee. He blew on the cut then applied a bandage. Dewangga had stocked some bandages in Marvin's shirt pocket, fearing he might get hurt since he wasn't allowed to accompany Marvin; it seemed Dewangga's precautions weren't in vain.

"Your wound isn't too severe; it should heal in a day or two."

Marvin then stood up, looking at Nadine who was full of questions.

"Who are you, really? Why act like you know me?" Nadine's curiosity about the man before her grew.

Marvin grinned, "Every man knows who Nadine Leonardo is."

"But your manner and look seem different. It's like..." Nadine couldn't finish her sentence, nor could she decipher Marvin's look. His gaze was cold, yet why did he behave as if he were interested in her?

Marvin stepped back again, "I have other matters to attend to. I'll let you go for now, but if we meet again, don't expect me to release you."

Nadine watched the enigmatic man, then sighed, "Alright, I hope we don't meet again. But I'm not ungrateful, so thank you for helping me."

With that, Nadine hurried away, fearful the stranger might harm her. "Why did he look at me that way? I hope we never meet again."

Nadine continued her limping walk through the forest.

Marvin just sneered as he watched Nadine leave, "Unfortunately, your wish won't come true. We will meet again. You all have to fall into my trap."
