Marvin had arrived in Indonesia, accompanied by Dewangga, on his private jet. Their arrival was greeted by the members of the Athena.
Marvin's sole purpose for coming to Indonesia was to exact revenge on those who had harmed his mother. He intended to punish them in accordance with their misdeeds, a life for a life, suffering for suffering.
Therefore, his main target was Markus, the man who had taken his mother's life. He wanted to find out who had ordered Markus to commit the killings.
At Athena's headquarters, Marvin attempted to sketch Markus's face on a whiteboard. Although not a natural artist, his determination to capture the man's likeness had led him to take painting lessons, until he could sketch Markus's visage as accurately as possible.
Marvin had deliberately kept the visage of Markus secret from his Uncle Theo, not wanting to involve him in the vengeance plot. He did not want to risk harm to Uncle Theo, his only remaining family.
"Find this man. I'm certain he's a professional hitman, likely affiliated with one of the local gangs," Marvin instructed his subordinates.
"Bring him to me alive."
"Understood, sir," replied all members of the Athena gang, trained to follow their leader's orders without question.
"Hmm... alright then, I'd like to head somewhere before that," Marvin decided to visit Kampung Duku, to reminisce about his memories with his mother. As her grave was in Australia, he used to visit it nearly every day while living there.
"Let me accompany you!" Dewangga insisted, tasked with protecting Marvin.
"No need, I wish to go there alone. I need some time to myself," Marvin refused.
With reluctance, Dewangga conceded, "Alright then, but alert me if anything happens."
Marvin nodded in agreement. "You'd better concentrate on our second plan, the destruction of my father's company."
...****************...
Marvin drove his car at a moderate pace, the top down to enjoy the breeze of the rural region.
It had been a while since Marvin had set foot in this land, desiring to retrace the journey he and his mother had made to Kampung Duku by bus in the past. They had once begged to afford the fare, since Rena's parents had owned a house there – a wealthy family retreat for peace and tranquility.
The landscape changed dramatically since his last visit, with majestic mountains replaced by grand buildings and sprawling forests converted into residential areas. Thankfully, he could rely on GPS to navigate.
Upon arriving, Marvin found only the remnants of his past home with his mother, now reduced to ruins from a fire with wild grass overtaking it.
Marvin bit his lower lip, fighting back tears as he recalled the brutal way Markus had murdered his mother, how she must have suffered alone that night.
...****************...
At that same village, Nadine was overseeing a hotel construction project amidst locals' protest, unconcerned about their objections since the property belonged to Leon Group.
Nadine surveyed the surroundings, noting that 30 percent was encircled by forest. Kampung Duku had its own charm, attracting tourists, and she was confident in the future profits for Leon Group from the hotel.
Curiosity led Nadine toward the eventful site of the tragic house fire that had claimed Rena and Marvin. On her way through the winding paths, she was suddenly confronted by five men – Marvin's old classmates who used to bully him – Anton, Dicky, Ari, Tedi, and Ramzi.
Anton, self-assured due to his wealthy background, was the most vocal opponent of the hotel development. Nadine refused to let his protests sway her decision.
Feeling threatened, Nadine backed away sharply from the group, her heart pounding in the secluded woodland.
"What do you want? Don't you dare harm me!" she snapped, retreating.
Anton laughed mockingly, "Blame yourself for dealing with us. You know who I am? I'm Anton, son of this village's rich merchant. Since you dared oppose me, you'll suffer the consequences."
Eyeing Nadine from head to toe, Tedi swallowed hard, his gaze lecherous. "Let's take turns with her, I want to know what it's like to be with an arrogant city girl."
Shocked, Nadine turned and fled, with the men laughing behind her, thinking of her as engaging in a chase. Worse, she ran in the wrong direction, towards the vast forest.
"After her!" Anton commanded.
The quintet took off after Nadine.
Thud...
Suddenly, Nadine collided with a man, falling before him.
It was Marvin, and he recognized her immediately - the beloved daughter of his father, whose presence had led to his and his mother's expulsion, ending in his mother's brutal death.
What was Nadine doing here? While Markus was his main quarry, could Marvin afford to miss this opportunity? His prey had come to him.
"Argghhh... sshhh..." Nadine winced, having injured her knee.
Quickly standing, she gripped Marvin's arm with trembling hands. "Pl-please help me, they want to hurt me," she implored, unaware of the danger posed by the man before her, one far more perilous than those pursuing her.
Marvin glanced toward the men chasing Nadine, his former schoolmates who had bullied him daily.
"Just give us the girl and stay out of it if you want to be safe," Anton warned, trying to persuade Marvin not to interfere.
The fate of Nadine was of little concern to Marvin; let her experience suffering at their hands. Tuan Rama and Sonya would be devastated by the misfortune that befell their darling daughter. Letting go of Nadine's hand, Marvin decided to make his exit.
But Nadine clung to Marvin's arm, desperately begging him not to leave her behind. "I beg of you, please help me. Don't leave me."
