The morning arrived, bringing back Luisa's memories of the previous night. She didn't know how to look at Thomas now, who slept with a smile on his face. She tried to detach herself from his arms but couldn't as he held her tightly.
"Good morning, beautiful," he spoke with his sleepy voice.
"Good morning, could you let me go?" Luisa replied without looking at him.
"Why?"
"I need to go to the bathroom."
"Alright then," he resignedly let her go.
Luisa grabbed the bedsheets and got up, picking up her clothes along the way.
"I don't know why you cover yourself when I've already seen it all," Thomas said seductively.
Upon hearing the comment, Luisa blushed and Thomas burst into laughter, adoring when his wife was shy.
Luisa didn't say anything and entered the bathroom. After about twenty minutes, she came out, and Thomas was no longer there. She was grateful for that, so she left the room before her husband appeared.
Once in her own room, she took a shower, changed, and went downstairs for breakfast.
"Good morning, Lucia. How did you wake up?" she asked sweetly.
"Not as good as you, but I'm getting by," Lucia replied, smiling mischievously.
Luisa's face turned tomato red. Surely Thomas's nanny had overheard everything, and she was dying of embarrassment.
"Now, nanny, leave my wild wife alone," Thomas said, embracing her from behind.
"And what did I say?" Lucia pretended not to understand. "I just thought I saw Luisa, who woke up today more beautiful than ever and with an inexplicable sparkle in her eyes," the nanny explained.
Instead of feeling comfortable, Luisa felt the opposite. She wanted to run away from there and lock herself in her room until everyone forgot what had happened, although she doubted Thomas would let that happen.
Thomas kissed her head and guided her to the dining room to have breakfast together. He felt happy because, so far, Luisa hadn't regretted what happened last night, and he hoped it would stay that way. If not, he didn't know how he would feel, as he loved that woman with all his soul.
On the other hand, Luisa felt strange. She thought she would regret it in the morning, but reality was different. She adored how Thomas treated her with so much love, although she didn't believe it was real love. It was probably just sex for him, but she wished he had felt more than that because she did.
Seated at the table, each lost in their thoughts, until Marlon's voice brought them back.
"Sir, young Hector is waiting for you to go together to talk to Oscar Roman," Marlon informed.
Upon hearing that, Thomas became tense. He knew that man would bring him problems. Surely his daughter Pilar had already filled him in on their marriage.
"I'll join him in a moment," Thomas replied, and Marlon left.
"I'll be arriving late today, don't wait up," he spoke sweetly to Luisa.
"Do you want me, you and me?" Thomas nodded.
"Luisa, maybe last night you had a little too much to drink, but what happened wasn't just sex. I felt it was real," he held her hands.
"I, I don't know what to say," although it was a lie, her heart raced upon hearing him say those words.
"Give me the chance to get to know you better and let's live this feeling without regrets, without excuses. Let's just try," he caressed her cheek.
Luisa blinked several times. She couldn't believe what Thomas was asking. Was he asking them to be a real couple?
"What do you say?" Thomas asked again.
He was nervous, not knowing Luisa's response, but he longed for her to say yes. Even if she didn't, he wouldn't pressure her. On the contrary, he would make her fall in love even more so that she gave a positive response when he asked again.
"Alright, Thomas. Let's give ourselves a chance," Luisa smiled, and he kissed her.
"I have to go," he said between kisses. "But I'll try not to be too late," he kissed her again.
They separated, and Thomas left. Luisa let out a sigh, watching where her husband had gone.
"That sigh is pure love," Lucia spoke.
"Really?" Luisa turned to look at her.
"Yes, my child. Besides, I have no doubt that Thomas feels love for you."
"Don't you think we're moving too fast?" Luisa sat down on a chair. "And what if we're confused, and it's not love but just attraction or pleasure?"
I've never seen Thomas express his feelings like that, so I don't think it's a pleasure for him," I clarify. "Now, let me ask you, is it a pleasure for you, or is it something more?"
That question made Luisa think. She had known Thomas for less than three months and couldn't say she loved him, but she felt something for him every time he said sweet things or had gestures towards her; her heart beat with excitement.
"You know, Lucia, I can't tell you what I really feel for Thomas because I don't know him well enough. But I can tell you something: it's easy to fall in love with him," she smiled shyly.
Thomas arrived at the facility where his drugs were processed and shipments were made. Oscar Roman, along with his men, was waiting for him.
"Well, well, you finally decided to show up," Oscar remarked.
"I remind you, Oscar, that this is my business. Therefore, I am the boss, and I can arrive whenever I want, or not at all," Thomas replied, smirking.
"Of course, I have no doubt about that. But you're neglecting the business, and that's a loss not only for you but for me as well."
"You're mistaken; I'm not neglecting anything. What's happening is that you still can't get over the fact that my father left me in charge, not you. Am I wrong?"
"I'll never understand why Raúl put a spoiled child like you in charge, a child who only plays house with his new wife."
Thomas silenced him with a punch. "Don't bring my wife into this, or you'll regret it, Roman."
"So, it's true. I thought this day would never come," he said, rubbing his bleeding lip.
"What are you talking about?"
"That my daughter was right - the great Thomas Moretti has fallen in love."
"Haha, Roman, you're mistaken. I'm not in love; it's just that your daughter is just like you."
"Why do you say my daughter is like me?"
"Because you're both deeply hurt. Your daughter wanted to be my wife, but she never occupied, nor will she ever occupy that place in my life or in my family, let alone you," he mocked.
"One day, you'll fall, and I'll be there to see you destroyed."
"Before that happens, I'll see you destroyed first."
Oscar got into his truck and left. "I want you to find out everything about Thomas Moretti's wife," he told one of his men, considering him his right-hand man.
"In a couple of days, I'll have all the information, sir."
"I'm going to show you who I really am, Thomas Moretti," he thought with a sinister smile across his face.
