I woke up early the next day and got ready because I had a meeting, and after that, I wanted to be able to enjoy the other days to get to know Aurora, but before the meeting, I stopped by a pharmacy and bought some medicine for Aurora and asked the receptionist to deliver it to her. She’s probably going to have a terrible hangover, she really overdid it yesterday.

Ugh... what a horrible headache I have. What a stupid thing I did last night. Today I can say that I regret it. At the time, you really forget, but the next day it seems to be much worse... I got up and went to the bathroom to do my hygiene routine and mainly take a mega shower to be able to recover. My head hurt more and more as I walked.

After I got ready, I put on my pajamas. It was hot, and I decided to lie down to see if I could get over this hangover... I was lying down with my eyes closed when I heard someone knocking on the door. I put on a robe and went to open the door.

“Hello, good morning,” I said, trying to be nice, as it was the receptionist.

“Good morning, miss. I came to bring these medicines that Mr. Bernardo asked me to give you,” said the employee.

“Thank you,” I said.

I took the medicine, and the young man left immediately, and I closed the door.

I sat back on the bed and was even happy that he had sent the medicine. I was really horrible and needed it urgently since I didn’t have the money to go get it myself... Then I grabbed a bottle of water that was on my bedside table and took the medicine and went to lie down, as the only certainty today was that I didn’t want to get out of bed.

Then I picked up my cell phone and started thinking about my thesis. My presentation was coming up soon, and I needed to finish writing my article. I couldn’t forget about it. After 4 years, I needed to finish successfully, and since I couldn’t type about it, I was going to start researching some more articles... I was lost in my thesis for hours when I heard someone knocking on the door.

“Who is it?” I shouted, not wanting to get up.

“It’s me. Can you open up?” said Bernardo.

I thought for a few seconds if I would open the door. Deep down I was ashamed of yesterday. He brought me drunk and took care of me, and I was happy that he didn’t take advantage of me, but I was afraid he would want to do something with me sober. I didn’t know him, I was afraid of ending up falling in love with him, since that’s a possibility, spending years with someone and ending up heartbroken. He must have several women after him, I couldn’t deny it, he was handsome, but I also couldn’t deny that I would clearly be disappointed.

“I’ll open it; wait,” I said.

I get up then and go to open the door. When I open it, I see the handsome man that he is. I’m even embarrassed when he looks at me.

“Am I bothering you?” he said.

He entered without asking if he could, closed the door, and stood by the door inside, looking me up and down.

“I was just finishing my thesis, or at least researching some articles to finish it,” I said.

With every minute there, looking at him, I tried to control my breathing and thoughts.

“Ah, yes, but leave that for later, okay? Let’s have lunch. I imagine you haven’t eaten anything yet.”

“I’m not hungry. You can go. I’d still like to be alone since you didn’t do that yesterday,” I said.

I regained my senses and sat back down on the bed and picked up my cell phone again. I didn’t want to leave yet, I still had a headache... but Bernardo sat on the bed and took my cell phone without warning and put it in his pocket.

“Go put on some decent clothes, and let’s eat. Today you’re going to obey me, understand?”

I tried to pull away to make him give me my cell phone back, but he was stronger and pulled me closer to him... for a moment, I just stood there looking into his eyes. My God, what a handsome man, and I was ashamed. I couldn’t get distracted, it was only for 2 years, this farce, I really couldn’t like him.

“Let’s eat, Aurora. Get dressed, don’t make me ask again.”

I walked away from him awkwardly, and I saw that he was smiling. That scared me. I couldn’t let him take advantage of me since he must have other women. My God, what does this man want by doing this? What are these feelings?

“I don’t want to go... please leave me here and give me back my cell phone,” I pleaded.

“I’ll be waiting for you out here. I’ll let you get ready... and no, I won’t leave you alone, so just obey me.”

I saw Bernardo slowly walking towards the door and before he closed it.

“You look beautiful in your pajamas... but try not to stand in front of me like that, or I’ll use my right as a husband, and I really want to use it seeing you like this,” he said.

He closed the door with a smile that left me all red and embarrassed. I had no choice but to go to lunch. Besides, my stomach was begging for some food. I hadn’t eaten since yesterday, and I didn’t want him coming in here again, so I decided to give in and end this strike.

So I grabbed my suitcase and looked for an outfit so I could go have lunch with him, hoping it would be a really cool place so I could eat a lot and also distract myself.

I’m not happy with the clothes they made me bring, but I tried to keep it as simple as possible. I’ve always worn more comfortable clothes, I don’t care much about being a little dressed up, I feel different, but in a good way.

“So, let’s go... I want to come back soon,” I said as I opened the door and saw Bernardo waiting for me by the door.

“You look beautiful... you’re very beautiful.”

“Where are we going to have lunch?” I asked, changing the subject. I always get shy when I get a compliment; I don’t know how to react. Waiting for him to answer, I closed the bedroom door.

“It’s close by. It has a view of the beach. I want to show you Miami in a special way while we’re here.”

“So, let’s go. Now I’m even hungry after hearing you talk,” I said.

I’m very uncomfortable with this atmosphere between us. What I really wanted was to eat in the room and think only about the end of my college and finally being able to graduate.
