Aurora's Narration
I stood there, looking at Eduardo without knowing what to do. He seemed so desperate to come after me again, with that sad look in his eyes.
Aurora: Please leave... I don't want to see you anymore.
Eduardo: Aurora, please listen to me. Do this not for me, but for your sisters. I will help you in any way I can.
Aurora: I will think about it and let you know tonight. So, please leave and let me think about it.
Eduardo: I'll leave my number with you. Think about it carefully, okay? You won't regret it, I promise.
Aurora: Fine, just go away, please.
And there I was, crying again. Why was I like this, always doing what others wanted and never following my own desires? In my mother's family, I always had to silently endure all the humiliation because my grandmother didn't want me to say anything, and now my father suddenly appears, wanting me to accept this marriage. This wasn't how I imagined getting to know him.
Then Eduardo left, and when I thought he had gone, he returned with a huge box.
Aurora: What is this? Didn't I tell you to leave?
Eduardo: In case you change your mind, here's something I bought for you to wear at the wedding. I thought of you when I saw it... I hope you like it.
I took that box and went to my room, crying a lot. Eduardo had already left, and him leaving this box here made my heart ache even more. I stayed there crying for hours... As the hours passed, my grandmother brought some food, but I wasn't hungry. However, I ate a little to avoid worrying her.
I didn't leave the house. I didn't have the energy to go to college, and since I never skipped, I allowed myself to skip today to think about everything happening in my life.
When it got dark, around 10 p.m., I gathered the courage and called Eduardo.
🗨phone call
Aurora: Hi...
Eduardo: I'm glad you called, daughter. What's your answer? Will you accept?
He sounded very hopeful on the other end of the phone.
Aurora: Even though I hate all of this, I will accept, as long as it's for less than 2 years and you never involve me in your business again. I don't want that for myself.
Eduardo: Thank you so much, Aurora. You're saving me. Don't worry, it'll be for a short time. I'll see you on Saturday. I'll send a driver to pick you up.
Aurora: Okay.

_Saturday_
Saturday came, and I was very sad. I hadn't been sleeping well since then, and I hadn't gone to college either. I was lying in my bed, still lacking the will to get up. I just wanted to stay there forever... And before I could get up, I received a message.
📱Message
Eduardo: Everything okay for today, right, daughter?
It felt like I didn't exist, that only other people mattered and not what I wanted. Why are people so selfish? Does he think I'm happy about this?
Aurora: Yes.
I was angry, sad. I wanted to run away to another city, alone, but it was too late for that. I ignored my phone, and when I placed it on the bed, I received another message.
📱Message
Bernardo: Even if you don't want to, pretend at least...
I couldn't believe it. Who does he think he is? How does he have my number?
Aurora: Who gave you my number? I didn't give anyone permission to do that.
Bernardo: Eduardo gave it to me, and I don't need your permission for that...
Aurora: Just because we're "getting married" doesn't mean that you have to keep sending me messages. Pretend that this is a nightmare, but it will be over soon.
Bernardo: Aurora, you will be MINE, whether you marry me now or not...
I looked at that message, unable to believe what I had just read. How does he think I will be his? I don't know him, and he doesn't know me. How dare he? I'm not an object.
Aurora: NEVER.
I threw my phone, and it fell to the floor. I can't believe I'm living through this.
I was very angry at that moment, wondering if I should give up, especially after reading those messages from him. How could he have the audacity to send me that? All I could do was cry.
Grandmother: Aurora.
My grandmother slowly opened the door to my room, as if she didn't want any of this to happen.
Avo: It's time for you to get ready, my daughter. Your wedding is about to start.
Aurora: It's just a contract, grandma. It will never be a wedding, never. I hate them all.
I cried in anger, but I really needed to get up and get ready. I didn't want to be late, and I definitely didn't want anyone forcing me to go. But they were already forcing me enough.
Aurora: But I will get ready, grandma, don't worry.
My grandmother leaves the room. She was sad for me, and she couldn't come. Only my father and Bernardo's parents will be at this wedding, besides him.

After a few hours, I was ready. I wore a long, beautiful white dress that my father had given me in that huge box.
(Imagine the dress like this)
I was looking at myself in the mirror, thinking about the mess I was about to get myself into when I heard the driver honking outside. I didn't waste any time and got into the car, heading towards the probable location of the wedding.
When I arrived, I saw Eduardo at the door of a huge and beautiful hotel.
Eduardo: Daughter, you look so beautiful... I'm glad you're wearing the dress I bought for you.
I got out of the car in silence, but deep down, I wanted to cry and run away. Seriously, why haven't I run away yet? I stood still for a moment, my heart pounding. My life was about to become a nightmare.
We entered the hotel and went into a private hall. The door was closed. From the moment I got out of the car until now, I was quiet, indifferent towards Eduardo.
Aurora: I don't want to anymore... I can't, I give up...
I was breathing heavily, extremely nervous and scared. I was about to turn and run away when Eduardo held me.
Eduardo: Daughter, we're already here. We can't give up. It will work out, trust me, just this once?
Before I could say anything else, a man opened the door. When I turned to face him, I saw a man in a black suit who was possibly the Judge, as he was behind a desk with a folder and a notebook. And in front of the desk was Bernardo, looking at me with that same cold gaze. I could almost pass as crazy, but there was something like desire in his eyes...
Eduardo: Shall we, Daughter?
We started walking towards the large table where the Judge was already waiting.
