Chapter 17 - About Cade
His slimy tongue slipped between my fingers, making my cheeks flush.
Lydia Kingsley
W-What are you doing?
Alex Westwood
Savouring you, obviously...
His tongue ran along the side of my hand, making me shiver.
Lydia Kingsley
H-How can you do this? It's been more than ten years-
Alex Westwood
I've always hated women.
Alex Westwood
They were witches who only someone's worth as the price tag around their neck.
Alex Westwood
But you were the one girl who was different. The one person who was genuine.
Lydia Kingsley
That's a lie...
I turned my head around but he turned it back.
Alex Westwood
No. Sure, there are some decent girls out there who would have probably lived a simple married life with me, surrounded by luxury.
Alex Westwood
But they weren't you.
Am I that special to him?
Now, I feel so bad. He's been thinking about me for ten years and here I have been been busy with my own stuff.
Alex Westwood
You were my first time, and I remember clearly that I was yours.
Alex Westwood
Do you know, when I woke up and saw that you weren't there, my heart shattered into a thousand pieces.
Alex Westwood
I searched for you but to no avail.
Alex Westwood
And now here you are, in front of me ten years later with my child.
He touched my chin, pulling it up so that my eyes met his.
Alex Westwood
And now I understand...
Alex Westwood
If you didn't have any lingering affections for me, why keep the child?
I blushed and looked away just as the car stopped.
Alex Westwood
Seems like we're home.
Lydia Kingsley
You mean, back at your house...
Alex Westwood
No. This is your new home starting today.
Alex Westwood
Move in with me.
I blushed, retracting my hand.
Lydia Kingsley
W-What are you-
Alex Westwood
You wanted to give Cade a complete family, didn't you?
I did... I always saw the look of distaste he used to give the kindergarteners at parents day when they showed up with both their parents.
People looked down on me for being a single mother with a child born out of wedlock.
However, I never let those words hurt me and soon enough, I grew numb to them.
All I cared about was my son's happiness...
He doesn't like his father right now but with time, they could learn to get along.
Lydia Kingsley
I'll think about it and talk over about it with Cade.
Alex Westwood
He really is mature for his age, isn't he?
Lydia Kingsley
You don't find him weird?
Alex Westwood
Weird? Not a word I'd use to describe him. He acts like he's a 18-year-old stuck in the body of a 10-year-old boy.
Alex Westwood
But he's extremely smart and knows when to cut back on his pride when it comes to the people he loves.
I've never heard someone praise him in that way before.
Lydia Kingsley
I'm sure that he'd be happy to hear that from you.
Alex Westwood
He'd be more happy to hear nothing at all from me.
Alex Westwood
Anyway... I believe that you owe me a dinner.
He looked at me, a mischievous grin on his face.
What had I gotten myself into?
Misty Plume
