Chapter 6 - 10 Years Later
Descending an escalator, both dressed in matching outfits, both a mother and child stood next to each other.
The child, barely ten, held onto his small case like it was his treasure.
Lydia Kingsley
Are you sure that you want to want to push that case of yours around? I can carry it for you, you know.
Cade Kingsley
And let you lose it?
Cade Kingsley
Mummy, you're very smart but you're always losing things.
He hugged the case tightly.
Cade Kingsley
All of my designs for my newest collection are in here!
Cade Kingsley
What if a rival comes to steal them? They could have the airport surrounded as we speak!
My paranoid little son...
It's been ten years since I last set foot in my home country.
After putting my stepfather away in jail for a long time, I sold my mother's company along with the huge family property and got enough money to travel abroad and support myself for a good few years.
Little did I know that from that night of bliss with that man, I'd end up pregnant.
I gave birth to Cade a couple months later and I couldn't have been happier.
Sure, I got a lot of people staring at me and Cade for being an unmarried woman and having a child but I managed just fine.
In fact, he never behaved like a normal child of his age.
He started to speak at a very early age and soon, he asked me to explain him how business and management worked.
So, I showed him how to do my temporary job just to entertain him and the very next morning, after falling asleep, I found that he had finished all of my work for the week.
I brought him to the doctors and they all said the same thing; that he was simply a very smart boy.
Soon, he began taking an interest in fashion design and soon, we ended up forming a company together as mother and eight-year-old son: Cade's Diamonds.
My son's fashion pieces soon were starting to sell to many major clothing brands and our popularity grew.
So in the end, my sweet son was the source of all my good fortune.
But sometimes, I wish that he'd act like a boy his age...
Lydia Kingsley
Listen, Mummy promises not to lose your suitcase.
Lydia Kingsley
She hasn't lost anything in this flight just yet!
Cade Kingsley
Oh really! What about your bracelet?
Lydia Kingsley
Well, it's right...
Lydia Kingsley
Whoopsie... sorry, darling.
Cade Kingsley
How can someone lose a bracelet? You should be more careful, Mummy!
Cade Kingsley
I know where it is! It's at the café. I'll be right back!
Lydia Kingsley
No, Cade! Don't run off like that!
I grabbed my suitcase and desperately tried to follow after his small little self.
My little boy really is reckless sometimes!
Alex Westwood
