Chapter- 19

"He went where?" Taehyung rubbed his eyes.

"He went with them. To see what they do with her." Jin sighed.

"You guys saw a Socrates?" Hoseok's eyes widened.

"We saw a group of them." Jin replied.

"Why didn't you go too?" Taehyung asked.

"Nevermind I wouldn't want to see that. And anyways, cooks are allowed." He chuckled.

"Make us meet with this Namjoon guy." Hoseok laughed.

"Sure."

A medium sized room. Crana is tied up on a table right in the middle of the room. There are some monitors set up at different places of her body. The short haired woman is observing a panel and the instruments at a corner. The guards are sitting at the door of the room in a relaxed manner.

Namjoon whispered some words to Crana holding her hand. He's sympathizing and encouraging her. Crana kept looking upwards with calm eyes.

The whole scene looked very cruel to Jungkook. He walked towards the place where the woman was working.

"Science had developed a lot. It's unfortunate that it couldn't prosper anymore. Suddenly these war and triots started and- Otherwise we would have been a lot more developed now."

the woman said while working.

"Nah. Nature doesn't like exaggeration. Humans exaggerated science a lot. That's why nature stopped it." A man standing beside her said.

Jungkook looked at them surprised. Do they really believe it?

"We can still earn some units by using Socrates' because we have these machines. How about those who don't have these?" the woman tapped a switch.

"They will suck their fingers." the man laughed.

"Is everyone ready? I will start then?" The woman looked up.

"What will you do now?" Jungkook asked out of curiosity.

"This crystal has the entire system. I will send this through Crana's electrode." She showed Jungkook a transparent crystal.

"What will happen then?"

"New synapse connection will form in her head. Old synapse connections will get separated if necessary."

"What?"

"Yes, you can say that this girl become a new person after that. Not exactly a person, a machine."

Jungkook looked at the woman. How could she something so horrifying so casually.

The woman connects the crystal and taps a switch. As soon as she taps the switch on, Crana's whole body bends upwards and she lets out a screech.

Jungkook rushes towards Crana. Her whole body shakes and trembles due to pain. Her eyes look like they are about to explode.

"Stop it! Stop it now!" Jungkook shouts.

"Stop what?" The woman asked confusedly.

"Whatever you are doing! Stop this! Can't you see how much pain the girl is in?"

The woman took a glance at Namjoon and then at Jungkook. "How will we load the system without pain? Didn't I just tell you that sometimes the synapse connections get separated?" She sighed in disappointment.

"For how long will this go on?" Jungkook clenched his fists.

"Just a while more. Have paitence."

Jungkook looked at Namjoon. He was holding Crana's hands tightly.

"Look Crana, Just for a while more okay? And it will be okay. Look Brother Namjoon is here. It will be alright. You are a brave girl right?" He kept saying.

Jungkook held his breath as he saw Crana's body stopped trembling and shaking and she slowly became calm.

"How are you feeling now?" Namjoon asked her.

Crana slowly opened her eyes and sat up. "I feel neither good or bad. To be honest I don't feel anything at all."

Jungkook looked at Crana with a shocked expression. Just a a while ago she couldn't talk properly and was visibly unstable. Now she's talking so bluntly.

"Can you recognize me Crana?" Namjoon asked in a low voice.

"Of course I recognize you. You are Namjoon. Our dear Namjoon." She smiled.

"Who's he? I saw him I think?" Crana pointed at Jungkook.

"Yes he's Jungkook. You saw him at the hall." Namjoon said.

"Jungkook." Crana slowly repeated.
