The trending news was just like many years ago. Her identity has been exposed once more, and it did nothing but drown her in multiple emotions both recognized and unrecognized ones.

' THE ILLEGITIMATE DAUGHTER OF THE WOODS FAMILY, SERENE!' The news read with pictures of her attached immediately after the post.

She checked the accounts profile, but it was recently created, and it had no post, apart from the trending news.

The comments were bubbling with insults and malicious words against her and her late mother.

' Why would they not spare even a dead person?' Serene asked herself.

She never expected anything from the public anyway, they always stick with what they deem right and ignore the real truth which was just behind the lie, If they could just abandon the topic of her illegitimacy for once it wouldn't hurt anyone.

Serene suspected that Marie Moore might be involved, but she discarded the thought immediately it came.

' That's not possible '

Her thoughts wandered to the possibility of her father being involved. He would not take such risk especially since he needs the collaboration of the Moore family. So who was trying to ruin her reputation like this?.

Hailey called back after hanging up earlier which gave Serene the time to digest the news.

" So who do you think did it?" Hailey asked her tone a little stern but comforting.

" For now, I do not know I do have suspicions, but I don't think it's the person" Serene replied raking her hand through her hair while holding the phone with the other.

" You sure your sister did not get involved?" Hailey inquired.

Serene felt convinced that maybe Eva was involved, but recently she had not done anything to hurt her or ruin her so why would Eva do such a thing?.

" It might not be her" Serene blurted leaving Hailey a little confused.

" Don't tell me you are being soft-hearted towards that little bitch, I'm certain she is the one. Who else will seek your downfall except her and the red flag man?" Hailey Chided

Serene's eyes flickered with emotions at the mention of' that man' , she knew Hailey will never let go of that past till she gets benefitting justice. She was just that kind of lady.

" Hailey don't worry I'll try to get to the bottom of this"

" You better do it, don't just try. I'm sick and tired of Eva winning every single game she had played on you"

Serene chuckled in response to her outburst taking a whole minute to convince Hailey that she'll do something about the news.

" I'll help if you need something okay?" Hailey said finally dropping the topic.

" Okay Ma'am" Serene chuckled hanging up the call.

Eva was the best option to choose from the possible suspects, she could do anything to achieve whatever goal her mind was set on. This led Serene to memory lane. She thought about all the things that Eva had done to her and got away with freely, stealing her spotlight and doing so many evil things only to take her down, who will be this cruel to someone whom they shared the same father with?.

Eva of course!

Serene clenched her hands and gritted her teeth tightly.

" I will make Eva pay for everything one after the other" Serene growled lightly.

She could not help but think about the position she would have been if Eva had not schemed her.

" I will make her pay!" Serene said. It was like her mantra now, making Eva pay was something she had decided last minute due to circumstances. If she does something responsible with her lowly status now, maybe people's view about her might change slowly.

Humph!, as if. They might just cook up stories about her climbing bed to make her way up to the peak and even give instances and evidence that Serene never knew existed just like Nicole.

Serene chuckled at the thought. The people around her were still looking icily towards her direction, but she did not place her attention on them, she'll do something about it even if it means relying on her husband!.

Meanwhile in XX corporation, Sinclair had seen the news and his expression turned grim at it.

' Who was trying to destroy his little angel's life like this?'

Throughout the meeting with partners his expression was not good which made people select words around him.

Sinclair phoned Serene after contemplating for a moment.

" Hello" The sugary voice said from the phone. Sinclair's mood took a 360-degree turn, and he was soon smiling making Zane who was standing not too far nervous.

" I saw the news, how are you coping with it?" Sinclair asked

Serene laughed, her laughter brought more joy to his face as he waited patiently for his Wife to ask for his help.

" Do not worry Uncle, I'll do something about it"

Sinclair's mood turned grim again. She did not only refused to ask for his help, she called him uncle again!.

" Oh, " he said

" So tell me, are you almost getting done with work?" Serene asked.

The couple carried on talking while Zane who stood there waiting for his boss' next order had a surprised look on his handsome face.

' So this lady call him uncle, and with the way they are talking to each other they seem intimate ' Zane thought

' Could this be the reason boss asked if he was old?' Zane asked himself

' Boss is no longer boss when it comes to his woman '

" You really went hard on her" Rita said to Eva who was holding a palette in one hand and a paint brush in the other, sitting on a stool in front of a canvas with an apron tied around her.

" This is just the beginning Mum, what I'm planning later is much fun"

" But releasing the news that trended years ago might not actually help you" Rita calmly advised hiding her uneasiness.

She did not want anything to be found out from the news that was why she never referred back to the news after its fading later on.

Her daughter got her hands on this piece of information after so long which was a little surprising, and she even used it this way that alone brought uneasiness to her.

The news was only meant to be exposed once and that was to achieve Rita's goals back then, any smart person might try to dig more into the story and that might lead to chaos.

" Mum please, I do not want Serene holding her head up high any longer, you told me she was marrying into the Moore family maybe they might reconsider her after hearing such news"

Rita's face flashed with confusion

" She might not marry into the family, that's what I meant"
