Serene sat beside her father on the settee smiling gracefully as she discussed with the people that met her yesterday.

" She is the one?" a voice laced with evident hatred and a hint of disgust sounded. Everyone looked up to meet the piercing gaze of a woman who looked her mid-forties, she was surprisingly beautiful for a woman her age and her hair which was thrown into a bun revealed her mature yet youthful face. She seemed easy to flow with, but surprisingly she was difficult.

' Wow' Serene thought. She felt that the chance of everyone treating her bad in the house was enormous, and a cold shiver ripped through her.

" Good morning" Serene managed to greet her despite the daggers the woman shot her with her cold eyes.

" What is good about the morning?" She asked.

" Marie Moore this is the daughter of Mr. Woods, the one who is to get married to young master" Benita Moore said.

Serene felt the pressure in the atmosphere, she realized that in the Moore house there were a lot of complicated problems.

This was not something she wanted for her life at all, but she had already taken a step so why back out?.

" Isn't she the one whose mother got pregnant with another man's child?"

" Even with her status are you saying she can't get married Into our family?" Benita Moore asked evidently feeling disgusted by Marie Moore's thinking.

" Of course she can't, she can't marry my son!" Marie Moore said her voice not too loud but not low either.

Serene looked at Marie Moore feeling down all of a sudden, now she knows that marrying into the family will only result to problems but if it's for her freedom she will do anything. In this case she has jumped from hot pot into real fire.

The three people from the Moore family started arguing with only Benita Moore on Serene's side.

A male servant walked in since two minutes ago feeling scared of stopping the argument to report whatever news he was sent to announce. Serene noticed him and waited thinking that the servant will say the news but he just stood there.

" Hold on!" Serene said, her voice pumping with authority. It was as if she was the head of the house and her voice stopped the argument.

Marie Moore stared daggers at Serene.

" Are you the head of the house?, what gives you the right to stop our argument?"

Mr. Woods felt unlucky as he heard the words, he nudged Serene to stay quiet fearing that they might chase them away.

" The Man wants to speak" Serene said pointing to the servant standing not far from them. Only then did they notice there was a servant there.

" Young master Moore has demanded to see Lady Woods in his room" The servant said

Huh?! This was new. The young master never allows anyone into his room, only servants and the old elders of the Moore family were allowed in.

" Me?" Serene asked pointing to herself.

" Yes Lady Woods, if you don't mind please follow me, I can lead you there "

Serene looked at everyone present there watching their expression, she was Indirectly seeking permission to go.

" Go on my dear" Benita Moore said.

Serene stood up and followed the servants lead.

The atmosphere was still thick and pressured in the living room, Mr. Woods planned to strike up a conversation with Saber Moore but he got blatantly ignored. This scared Mr. Woods lightly, he needed their collaboration and he doesn't want to mess up what has been going on for a while now.

Marie Moore felt complicated the most, she thought bringing up the news about the lady will send them away, but instead it was rapidly paving way for Serene to enter the family.

Meanwhile in young master's room....

Serene opened the door and darkness enveloped her sight. The room was dimly lit with a candle which stood on a candle stand by the floor to ceiling window and there was a lingering smell of tobacco in the air.

" Hello" Serene said standing by the door side still holding the knob as she peered into the room.

" Come in" a magnetic deep hoarse voice rang out from the room instantly reddening Serene's ear.

The voice was so pleasing.

Serene walked in, slowly closing the door behind her. She could not properly see what was inside the dim room since her eyes had not adjusted to the darkness.

" Young master" Serene said

" Serene" The man said

Serene was taken aback for a moment. She was wondering how he knows her name. Her eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness and she could finally make out things in the room, she looked at the tall elegant figure backing her and standing in front of the floor to ceiling window, unfortunately for her the curtains blocked light from entering the room and she could not see the man clearly.

" Wife" The man said pressing a button which opened the curtain allowing natural light to fill the room
